September is apple month, so members made these awesome candied apple magnets to celebrate! This is just stage one- candying the apples! Once the paint has dried over the weekend, we'll add the finishing touches. Stay tuned for the final results!!

Thursday, August 28: Crafts, Music, and Matchies!

On the 4th Thursday of every month, our center gets a visit from the very special Ms. Erin for music therapy! The theme for this month's visit was 90s pop and country, and members had a blast belting out the lyrics to classic favorites, and shaking egg shakers to the beat.

They also made butterfly paddle fans for the day's craft (which turned out super cute!), and we had another set of Active Day matchies!

Thursday, August 21: Driving Tour Field Trip!

Members enjoyed a peaceful drive through the Lexington area on this month's outing. They rode through the scenic Lexington Cemetery, enjoying the sights of the beautiful landscaping and fascinating stonework, then circled around the Secretariat statue before returning to the center.

Wednesday, August 20: DIY Pencil Pouches

In the spirit of back to school season, members designed their own pencil pouches! An easy yet fun (and useful!) craft that all the members enjoyed doing. Everyone was proud of their artwork, and had fun checking out their friends' designs as well.

Tuesday, August 19: Modeling Clay Challenge!

Members rose to the challenge and tried their hands at sculpting modeling clay! Each side chose 2 different "inspos" - an example of the clay model - then did their best to recreate the objects. Our Wildcats chose to recreate these carrots and adorable pandas, while our Mavericks sculpted cute little bumblebees and octopuses!

Members requested a few rounds of Noodle Ball for afternoon exercise. A fun game that offers a healthy dose of fast, friendly competition!

They also crafted these beautiful mini wall hangings, called god's eyes, by weaving yard around a pair of small dowel rods.
