πŸ“Š Looking Back with Gratitude

Some say you shouldn't dwell on the past β€” but when we reflect on the incredible impact made in 2024, one number stands out above the rest:

πŸ’š Charity Care Provided: $480,000

At Hospice of Davidson County, we believe that no one should ever be turned away from quality end-of-life care, regardless of their ability to pay. Because the truth is, none of us know when we or a loved one may need hospice β€” and when that time comes, we are here.

This level of compassionate care is only possible thanks to the unwavering support of our community β€” through sponsorships, fundraising events, donations, and the tireless efforts of our volunteers and staff.

So today, we pause to say:
THANK YOU.
To our community, for walking beside us every step of the way. Your support is not just appreciated β€” it’s essential. πŸ’š

πŸŽ“ Graduate Wednesday πŸŽ“

Today we would like to recognize Allie Spong, RN and one of our newest team members, who shares with us:

"Recently, I completed my LPN to RN bridge program. I absolutely love what I do and put my heart and soul into it. I’m a proud mom of three boys and happily married. I love to travel and enjoy anything outdoors. I'm very family-oriented and passionate about supporting my kids in their sports and adventures. Some of my favorite side hobbies include spending time with my chickens and growing my photography business."

Please join us in congratulating Allie on a job well done completing her RN degree. We are so proud to have her as part of our team and wish her continued success in her professional development! πŸ’š

πŸ“šβœ¨ Back to School Season is Here! βœ¨πŸ“š

As students, teachers, and families prepare for a fresh new school year, we at Hospice of Davidson County want to wish everyone a season filled with learning, growth, and new beginnings.

This time of year, is especially meaningful for many of our own team members who are sending their children back to school β€” from preschoolers to college freshmen. We know the mix of emotions this season can bring, and we celebrate the incredible dedication our staff show both at home and in the compassionate care they provide every day.

At our core, hospice care is about connection, compassion, and lifelong learning. Whether you're a caregiver juggling school drop-offs, a colleague continuing your own education, or a volunteer cheering on your grandkids β€” your efforts do not go unnoticed. πŸ’š

To all the students heading back, the parents supporting them, and the educators shaping their futures: You’ve got this!

🎨 July's Creative Counseling Group

For this month’s session, attendees created a beautiful summer-themed β€œstring lights” painting while sharing meaningful conversations around grief and loss. πŸ’š

Together, the group explored common myths and misconceptions about grieving, and shared strategies for coping with significant dates, such as anniversaries and birthdays β€” moments that can be both tender and challenging.

A shared reflection from the evening:
"Just like a painting, we are all works in progress β€” figuring things out one day at a time."

πŸ’¬ These creative sessions offer a safe, supportive space to connect, express, and heal.

πŸŽ„ Christmas in July – A Midyear Celebration! β˜€οΈ

Last week, we celebrated our incredible staff and volunteers with a festive Christmas in July event! πŸŽ…πŸΌπŸŽ A delicious breakfast was lovingly catered by our very own Chef, Angie Hughes, setting the tone for a day full of gratitude and recognition.

During the celebration, we:
✨ Reviewed midyear financial reports
πŸ—£οΈ Heard inspiring updates from our CEO, CAO, Medical Director, and Director of People & Facilities
πŸŽ“ Recognized team members who recently completed or are pursuing continued education
🌟 Honored our 2nd Quarter SUPERNOVA employees β€” shining examples of excellence in action
πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ Took a moment to reflect and reset with insights from our wellness coach, who reminded us of the importance of self-care and healthy habits

Our team goes above and beyond every single day to provide 5-star care to our patients, and they deserve to be celebrated not just once β€” but always. πŸ’š

Please join us in thanking each and every one of them for the passion, heart, and dedication they bring to their work. We are truly grateful for the exceptional people who make up our team!

🏍️ Wednesday Reflection: 4 Days After Our 18th Annual Ride for Angels

As we take a moment to reflect on the incredible ride we had this year, we are filled with gratitude for the safety of all participants, the strong support from our community, and the wonderful camaraderie shared among riders, staff, and volunteers.

This year, we were thrilled to have **170 bikes** join us on this memorable journey! While our team is diligently finalizing the total funds raised, we are excited to share that the event was a tremendous success.

A heartfelt thank you to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, Lexington Police Department, and all other departments who ensured our safety during the ride. We extend our appreciation to Denton Farm Park and Bull City Ciderworks for being such gracious hosts!

We can’t wait to share more details about the event soon. Here’s to next year’s ride – we hope you’re as excited as we are! πŸ’š
