๐Ÿ–‹๏ธ During this monthโ€™s Creative Counseling Group, attendees explored hand-lettering and calligraphy to create meaningful messages alongside their artwork. Some wrote heartfelt notes to departed loved ones, others crafted personal reminders or quiet reflections. Each message was unique โ€” but all were deeply from the heart. ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŽจ Join us for our next Creative Counseling Group on Thursday, September 11, from 6โ€“8 PM, where weโ€™ll express and reflect through painting as our creative activity.

No artistic experience needed โ€” just bring yourself.

This Labor Day, we honor the dedication, compassion, and care of those who serve others.

At Hospice of Davidson County, we are grateful for the incredible team members โ€” nurses, CNAs, social workers, chaplains, volunteers, and support staff โ€” whose tireless efforts bring comfort and dignity to our patients and families each day.

Today, we celebrate not only their hard work, but also the heart behind it. ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ“ฃ Looking Back on 2024: Community Education Impact

As we continue reflecting on 2024, another number weโ€™re proud to share is this:
Our Hospice of Davidson County team presented 51 Community Education forums to a combined audience of over 1,790 clinicians, educators, donors, and community stakeholders.

We are committed to educating our community about the compassionate care we provide every day, and the critical role hospice plays at the end of life. These sessions also help strengthen collaboration with local healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive seamless, coordinated care when it matters most.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Do you work with a local agency, community organization, business, or faith-based group that would benefit from learning more about hospice care and the support we offer to caregivers and patients?

Weโ€™d love to connect with your group and continue spreading awareness and understanding across our community.

๐Ÿ“ž Contact us at 336-475-5444
Our Marketing Team would be happy to help arrange a speaker or presentation.

๐ŸŽ“ Graduate Wednesday Spotlight ๐ŸŽ‰

Today, we are proud to celebrate Tammy Byerly, who shares:

โ€œI have been an LPN for 14 years and graduated from the bridge program in May to earn my RN. Iโ€™ve been with HODC for 8 yearsโ€”this is where my heart is. I love helping people as much as I can and meeting new people in the community.โ€

Tammy has been an incredible asset to our agency, and we are so proud of the dedication and hard work that led to this achievement.

Please join us in congratulating her on this well-deserved success! We look forward to all she will continue to bring to our team here at Hospice of Davidson County. ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ’š Behind Every Meal Is a Mission ๐Ÿ’š

One of the things you may not know about Hospice of Davidson County is that we have a full commercial kitchen right here on-site โ€” led by our talented Chef, Angie Hughes, and a dedicated culinary team. This kitchen doesn't just serve meals; it nourishes hearts.

Each day, they prepare delicious and comforting meals for our patients, their families, our staff, volunteers, and visitors. Chef Angie also lends her talents to help cater special events throughout the year.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ But today, weโ€™re celebrating more than just their culinary excellence โ€” weโ€™re recognizing their commitment to safety, quality, and care. Our kitchen has received a perfect sanitation score of 100 for nearly 10 years in a row! An incredible accomplishment made possible by the teamโ€™s tireless dedication and attention to detail.

Hereโ€™s what Chef Angie had to say:

"Cooking has always been more than a job for me โ€” it's a way to care for people... In Hospice care, every meal matters. It's not just about what's on the plate, but the comfort, dignity, and love that comes with it... I am proud to say we have kept a 100 sanitation grade for nearly 10 years โ€” a testament to our team's dedication to safety, quality, and care in every detail."

๐Ÿ‘ Please join us in congratulating Chef Angie and the entire kitchen team on this incredible achievement โ€” and thank them for the heart, hard work, and love they bring to Hospice of Davidson County every single day.

๐Ÿ’š Over 2,830 Hours of Compassion Donated

๐ŸŽ“ Graduate Wednesday ๐ŸŽ“

Today we proudly recognize Melissa Grant, RN, BSN, who shares:

"Caring for people who are facing life-limiting illnesses is not just my profession โ€“ it's a calling that I feel honored to be a part of within the community I was born and raised in. I started my career at Hospice of Davidson County as an LPN in 2016 before graduating with my associate's degree and becoming a RN Case Manager in 2019. Last year I was promoted to Home Care Team Leader, a role in which I've discovered a strong passion for mentoring staff while supporting their professional growth and development. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two sons, taking naps with my fur-baby, going to the lake, traveling, and connecting with friends! I recently completed the RN to BSN program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, which allowed me to build on my existing clinical experience as a Registered Nurse with additional coursework in leadership, community health, and research-based practice. Completing this program reflects my passion for lifelong learning and I'm excited to apply the new skills I have learned as I grow in my role at Hospice of Davidson County.โ€

Please join us in congratulating Melissa on earning her bachelor's degree. We are incredibly proud of her achievement and look forward to her continued growth and success! ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ“Š Looking Back with Gratitude

Some say you shouldn't dwell on the past โ€” but when we reflect on the incredible impact made in 2024, one number stands out above the rest:

๐Ÿ’š Charity Care Provided: $480,000

At Hospice of Davidson County, we believe that no one should ever be turned away from quality end-of-life care, regardless of their ability to pay. Because the truth is, none of us know when we or a loved one may need hospice โ€” and when that time comes, we are here.

This level of compassionate care is only possible thanks to the unwavering support of our community โ€” through sponsorships, fundraising events, donations, and the tireless efforts of our volunteers and staff.

So today, we pause to say:
THANK YOU.
To our community, for walking beside us every step of the way. Your support is not just appreciated โ€” itโ€™s essential. ๐Ÿ’š
