Why It Works Wednesday

Your physical therapist looks at how joints, muscles, and everyday movements may be linked to neck or back pain. This helps guide care based on your symptoms rather than assumptions or generic advice.

Our Story

Welcome to INSHAPE Physical Therapy & Wellness Center, LLC in Lexington, SC. We were founded in 2008 by physical therapist, Shelley Burgess. Shelley states, "I felt led to establish a faith-based, one-on-one physical therapy and wellness center to provide uplifting services to those in need." At the initial evaluation, clients are offered a complimentary Holy Bible and encouraged to utilize a unique, 'Nail It To The Cross' theory, in which each client is invited to write down specific problem areas/concerns and tack them to a cork cross, releasing any negativity in order to focus on the positive. All clients are treated one-on-one for one hour appointments.

Our Motto is “We Lift You UP in Water, Air and Prayer”. We offer anti-gravity treadmills to reduce compressive forces and allowing safer/quicker recovery from injury. The Alter-G anti-gravity treadmill utilizes positive air pressure to provide an uplifting force to allow reduced weight bearing from 20% to 100% full weight . The tri-depth performance pool includes an aquatic underwater treadmill which allows reduced weight bearing as well. Badu resistance jets provide aquassage/massage and endless swimming capabilities. Our skilled staff will utilize the properties of water according to each individual’s needs. Aquatic therapy can provide reduced compression on the joints which reduces pain and inflammation. Specialized equipment can also be added to provide graded resistance for strength and balance training.

INSHAPE PT also offers class IV laser light therapy, ultrasound therapy, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, cupping, joint mobilization/manipulation and dry needling/electro-acupuncture therapy. Our staff is highly skilled in manual therapy and LSVT (Exercise protocol for clients with Parkinson’s Disease).
