Praising the Lord for the 75 women at last night's Meet, Greet, & Pray for Christian female health care providers and students! My favorite memory is the sound of God's daughters praying together in small groups in The Gathering Place at Immanuel Baptist Church Tates Creek.
My heart is also full of gratitude for Beth Degler, Donna Lewis, Laura Stuart, Lauren Degler, and my hunk of burning love, Jeff. Have you ever looked at Christian leaders and wondered "how do they do it all?" Well, they didn't do it all, not even close.
They came up with an idea, and then their friends, family, and ministry partners pulled together and pulled off the whole thing because they love Jesus and serving others (usually with no personal recognition).
At Monday's meeting, we expected 35 women and prepared for 50 women. As I began speaking, and more women kept coming in, I watched in amazement and gratitude as my team quickly set up more tables and chairs, got the women food, etc.
I think my sweet sister-in-heart, Beth, stood for the whole meeting because she gave the last chair to a guest. Jeff, after discovering I had forgotten to pack a laptop cable, rescued my slide show by quickly driving home and getting back just in time to run the sound (I do wonder if Jeff is bald not because of genetics, but because of the stress of being married to me...).
Thank goodness Laura was there with her access to the locked closet of tables, and Lauren was there to lead an impromptu singing of "Happy Birthday" to two guests, and Donna and Beth were there, as always, to do whatever needed to be done. If you see any of these amazing ministry partners today, please give them a hug.
