Children's Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass

Children's Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass The Children's Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass is a healing place for sexually abused children.

The Children's Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass is a nonprofit organization that seeks to reduce the trauma experienced by sexually abused children. The organization coordinates the investigation of child sexual abuse cases in the 17-county Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky. The Children's Advocacy Center employs specially trained forensic interviewers, operates a full medical clinic to conduct sexual abuse examinations, and offers victim counseling and advocacy support to begin the healing process. All services are provided in a nurturing, friendly and safe environment at no cost to a child's family. CAC also provides education and training to improve community response to child sexual abuse.

October's Core Values Shout Out goes to one of our amazing forensic interviewers, Betty!

A fellow CAC staff member shared, "Betty is a teenage whisperer who handles some of the most difficult cases to crack."

It's true - Betty approaches every interview with compassion and patience, helping even the most hesitant teenager feel comfortable and heard. We’re so grateful for the care and dedication she brings to every case!

A little late, but we wanted to take a moment to spotlight our September Core Values Shout Out, Erika Wilson!

Erika is our Director of First Impressions, and they are oftentimes one of the first people that children and families interact with at our Center. They are an important piece of our organization as they ensure everyone that walks through our doors feels welcomed and cared for!

Thank you for all that you do, Erika!

1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men have experienced severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime, and studies show that 30% to 60% of intimate partner violence perpetrators also abuse children in the household (www.thehotline.org).

These statistics are powerful reminders that intimate partner violence affects far too many families in our community. We all deserve safety, and we all have a part to play in creating a world free from violence.

We’re thankful for our partners at GreenHouse17 for the life changing services they provide to survivors throughout Central Kentucky. Check out their upcoming DVAM events to learn how you can get involved!
