Westside Pediatrics, Lexington, KY

Westside Pediatrics, Lexington, KY Westside Pediatrics is where kids come first!!! I LOVE having a practice small enough where I get to know our families well. Hi! I am Dr Becky Bosomworth.

I would be delighted to see your children from birth all the way through college! Westside Pediatrics started as a practice (Rider & Ramsey) in the 1970's with Dr Joan Rider and Dr Barry Ramsey. After Dr Rider retired in 1991, Dr Jacqueline Campbell and Dr Charles Taylor merged their practice with Dr Ramsey's to form Westside Pediatrics. I joined them right out of residency January 2, 1997. Drs Campbell and Taylor retired in 2006 and Dr Ramsey retired in Feb 2011, so now it is just me at Westside and I LOVE it!! I have patients and grand patients!! I love the relationships that build with children and their parents over the years : )

May all enjoy Peace, Love, and Joy in this season. May we all count our blessings, and not our injuries. May we forget our trials, but not the lessons. May our hearts be a little softer for those who need it most, and our resolve a little stronger to right the wrongs. May we learn to see the beauty all around us, and not focus on those things not so beautiful. May we learn to love those who challenge us the most, and not take for granted those who love us most.
Love and Blessings to all of you.

Finis Gentry, 92, of Prospect passed away on June 24th, 2021. He was born In Noreen TN, raised in Rock City, TN and graduated from HS in Washington DC where he worked as a Congressional Page. As a perpetual overachiever, he went on to obtain his BSEE at the University of Tennessee where he met the love of his life (Mary Jane Jordan, Deceased 2016). Following graduation, he was hired by General Electric and they began building their life together in upstate New York as a Test Engineer. He continued his studies, received an MEE, got his PE in NY while taking on more advanced roles within GE. His knowledge, expertise and publications on semiconductors helped him get elected as an IEEE fellow 1968.
During their time in Upstate NY, they adapted to the seasons in the north by taking up snow skiing in the winter and sailing in the summer. The family spent 16 years in Skaneateles, NY before accepting a new position with GE at Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky. His achievements with GE continued throughout his career and he was credited with 12 patents before retiring in 1990, but, the most important achievement was being a great Dad and grandfather.
All their children were born and grew up in Upstate New York. The whole family enjoyed life in Upstate New York living on Skaneateles Lake for over 15 years while learning to swim, sail boats and snow ski. They adapted to their new life in Kentucky and lived happily for over forty years. Finis always enjoyed playing tennis, bridge, and volunteering to help at church or taking on woodworking projects for daughters also living in Kentucky.

Finis and Jane were loving grandparents who always enjoyed being with their grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Barbara, Becky & Doug, grandchildren Johan Nielsen & Karina (Nielsen) Calvano, Kate (Bosomworth) Datzka, Kristi (Bosomworth) Davis & David Bosomworth III, James, Lisa & Samuel Gentry, great grandchildren Joey Calvano, Derek Dominic Davis III, and brother Owen Gentry.
The funeral will be held on July 3rd at the Second Presbyterian Church, 3701 Old Brownsboro Road, Louisville, Ky 40207.
Visitation starts 9:30am
Funeral Service 11:00am

I am here at my office seeing sick kids that need to be examined and/or tested for flu, strep, Covid-19 etc, in the parking lot in your car. I will be all protected with my PPE.

I want all my babies to continue to come in for Well Visits and vaccinations during this time of the Covid pandemic. We certainly do not want to start seeing old diseases that we have been preventing for years to start surfacing again!!

If there are things that can be handled by email, phone or face time, the insurance companies are now allowing these to be billed as face to face visits.

Please all stay safe!!!

We are STRESSED, but we are BLESSED and we are doing our BEST!!

We are making our own gowns. Takes 2 trash bags per gown and a little shipping tape.

We are seeing sick people, but see them out in the parking lot with all our protective gear on. We are still testing for the Flu, Strep, Respiratory Panels and are able to test for COVID-19.

Dear Patients,
We are all family here at Westside Pediatrics. On Monday March 9, I put in effect sweeping
changes to our scheduling, check-in, and rooming practices to protect our family from the
COVID-19 pandemic. Many of you have already experienced these changes, and I thank you
for your cooperation and support. Please continue to listen carefully to my staff’s questions
and instructions in the weeks to come.
1. When you call to make an appointment, please be patient and prepared to answer
several screening questions. If at all possible, we are scheduling well visits in the
morning and sick visits in the afternoon.
2. When you arrive at the office, stay in your car and call into the office to let us know you
are here. Remain in your car and wait for the staff to es**rt you directly to your exam
room. (As always, we room you on the “sick side” if you are sick, and the well side if you
come in for a well child check or medication management.)
3. Remain in your room with the door shut until you are seen.
4. You will be given directions as to how to exit the building with as little contact with
others as possible.
5. I am seeing some of my patients in the parking lot. (It will depend on what other issues
are being dealt with in the office at the time of your appointment.)
6. Toys and handouts were removed from the waiting area last week. Do not sit in the
waiting room or bring others into the office that need to sit in the waiting room. If your
guests cannot fit into my tiny exam rooms, they should remain in your car. We will
continue to hand out stickers and suckers instead of allowing the children to come into
the staff area to select their own. We miss the children playing and visiting us and their
friends in the office, and look forward to the time we can loosen these restrictions.
I have another board certified pediatrician, Dr. Sandra Green, helping me remotely. She is
listening in on visits and scribing for me, helping with lab results and prescriptions, and
coordinating all COVID-19 issues with the state. Please be assured that Dr. Green and I speak
several times a day, and that we are both fully aware of your individual health needs. We both
pride ourselves on providing personalized medical care and we consider it a privilege to be
part of your lives.
Please follow these instructions after business hours:
1. If this is an emergency and you need an ambulance, hang up and call 911.
2. If you feel you need to go to the emergency room but do not need an ambulance,
please call the ER first and listen to their instructions as to how to avoid exposure to
COVID-19 and/or avoid exposing others to COVID-19.
3. If you have an urgency at night or on the weekends, please call the medical society
exchange at 859-276-2594 or email me at DrBosomworth@gmail.com.
If you need information about COVID-19, please visit: www.kycovid19.ky.gov

The Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) is responding actively to the COVID-19 situation. Our State Health Operations Center is operating at Level 1, its highest activation level. This respiratory disease was first detected in a Kentucky resident on March 6, 2020.
