Brothers and sisters, it is time to congratulate these outstanding folks for graduating the Lexington IOP! From left to right:
Dustin - I'm pretty sure I've mentioned the "eye of the tiger" in previous posts--that relentless, unflappable determination to do whatever it takes to live a life of lasting recovery. Dustin has it, for sure. See that hair? It's not just stylish; it's symbolic: he is *amped up* for this thing! Congratulations, Dustin!
Shana - Want to learn something about perseverance? Just hang out with Shana for a while. Addiction is a cunning foe, and one of its favorite tricks is to try to convince us that our battle against it is hopeless. Addiction will tell us that that we're "not worth it"; it will whisper in our ear that we "might as well just give up." Shana refuses to fall for this trick. And because of her strength, she is finally beginning to love herself as much as we all love her--and to believe that she is, in fact, *very much* worth it. Congratulations, Shana!
Emily - She's as clever as they come, and has a talent for wielding her words like weapons: sharp, colorful, wild, and even a little chaos-creating (OK, so maybe *a lot* chaos-creating sometimes). This talent is also a double-edged sword. In addiction, it's a weapon of mass destruction; but in recovery, it's a gift that can uplift, motivate and inspire, guiding others along the path of hope and light. We have no doubt that she will continue doing just that. Congratulations, Emily!
Christine - Did you know there are people out there who burn more energy than a nuclear reactor? They are few and far between, but they exist--and she is definitely one of them. Physical illness? Stress levels that would debilitate most people? Pshaw: nothing can stop the dynamo that is Christine. And the best part? The power she generates comes in the form of selflessness, recovery and love. We can't wait to see what she electrifies and brightens next. Congratulations, Christine!
