Diplopia or sudden eye misalignment isn’t always “just stress” or “just your eyes” 👀 In some cases, infections like Lyme disease can affect the nerves that control eye movement, especially the sixth nerve, leading to double vision, dizziness, eye strain, and poor depth perception 🤯 Patients get told everything looks “normal” way too often, meanwhile they’re struggling daily 😔 Prism lenses can help realign how your brain processes visual input while your body recovers 🧠

Spring allergies can really irritate your eyes—but a few simple habits can make a big difference. Here’s how to protect and soothe your eyes during allergy season:

✔️ Wash up after being outside to remove pollen
✔️ Avoid rubbing your eyes (it makes irritation worse!)
✔️ Wear sunglasses to block allergens
✔️ Use artificial tears to flush out irritants
✔️ Apply cold compresses for soothing relief
✔️ Keep windows closed & change pillowcases often
✔️ Switch to glasses if contacts feel uncomfortable

💡 If symptoms persist or affect your vision, it’s time to see your eye doctor.

Screen-heavy days can strain your eyes without you noticing. Before you know it, hours of screen time are logged on your eyes. Take breaks often and don't forget to blink. It can make a huge difference! (803) 996 2020

👁️ A lot of people think Pterygium is only a cosmetic issue, something that just looks a bit unusual.
But in reality it can have a real impact on your vision.
Let’s see how👇

This tissue grows from the white part of the eye onto the cornea and as it progresses, it can start to pull and distort the cornea’s natural shape.
That’s when problems begin 👇

• Blurred or fluctuating vision
• Astigmatism that keeps changing
• Persistent redness and irritation
• That constant “something in my eye” feeling

In more advanced cases, the deformation becomes visible on corneal topography, meaning your vision isn’t just uncomfortable, it’s physically altered.

What’s important to understand is that pterygium is progressive. It doesn’t always stay small, and waiting too long can make both the visual impact and the treatment more challenging.

The good news is that modern surgical techniques have come a long way. Procedures today are quick, recovery is relatively smooth and results can be both functionally and aesthetically very satisfying.

04/04/2026

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a common eye complication of type 2 diabetes (T2D), but studies linking physical activity (PA) to DR have shown mixed results. While exercise is proven to reduce cardiovascular risk, its benefit for eye health remains less certain.

Study overview:
A large Chinese study (SCODE, 2017–2020) analyzed ~43,000 T2D patients (cross-sectional) and followed 3,669 without DR for 3 years to see if PA affects DR risk.

Key findings:
Over 3 years, physical activity reduced the risk of developing DR (~19% vs 23% in active vs inactive patients).
Moderate-to-high intensity exercise was the only factor consistently linked to lower DR risk.
Frequency (≥3 times/week) and duration (≥150 min/week) alone were not enough without sufficient intensity.
Best outcomes were seen at about ~5 sessions/week and ~180 minutes total (U-shaped benefit curve).
PA was linked to healthier retinal blood vessels, suggesting direct microvascular benefits—not just improved blood sugar.
PA helped reduce moderate/severe DR, but not overall DR prevalence in cross-sectional data.
Moderate (not vigorous) activity showed the strongest protective effect.

Limitations:
Self-reported exercise, short follow-up (3 years), and a single-population cohort (Chinese patients).

Takeaway:
For people with T2D, exercise intensity matters most—regular moderate-intensity activity (not just more time or frequency) may help protect against diabetic retinopathy.
