The song that becomes yours today has a very important message. "Lokah" contains Sanskrit words that belong to an ancient yogic mantra. Its essence is a deep prayer for all beings. When I learned it at yoga teacher training, it resonated with me as a prayer for ALL life: all humans, plants, animals, trees, bugs, fungi. Creatures of land, sea, and sky. I chose to release this song on the spring equinox because this day celebrates of new life and rebirth.
Ostara refers to the ancient celebration of the Spring Equinox (the day of equal light and darkness) and the German Goddess of the dawn. She is a young maiden, often represented by bunnies and eggs, symbolizing fertility and new life. Today, we celebrate the children, newborn babies, baby animals, and young buds poking up from the Earth. We rejoice in the sun's light growing stronger and lasting longer in the sky each day. The promise of warmth returns.
This day is a fresh start for all. And I want to begin this new season with a prayer.
A Prayer for Spring
Let us lift the children high. May the heart of every child be filled with light. May they know wonder. May they know love. Let us guide them to stretch their branches of joy and laughter up to the sky, down to the soil, and out to the world. May we hear their thoughts, ideas, and feelings. May blessings rain upon all children to feel safe and be safe.
Goddess Ostara, bless all who wish for your blessing with a hopeful new beginning that blooms into a beautiful bright emerging.
May we all free the spirit of our own inner child as we create happiness in our lives. May the energy of the turning season fill us with hope and kindness to share.
