Friends, it has been a time. Settle in for a story.
If you’ve noticed, we’ve been low on availability the last two months and unfortunately, it’s not bc business is booming.
In early March, I broke my fibula and had to have ankle surgery to repair it. I’m in a boot and walking with crutches now, but it will be about 3-4 weeks before I am able to see clients again.
While Michelle has been steady taking clients, I’ve also just hired a massage therapist who also certified in MLD- more on that later! 😀😀
But here are some pics of my last two months.
It started with an ED visit where I got the shocker of shocks that the little bitty bruise and minimal swelling was from a broken bone and not a sprain or strain.
They splinted me up and I had to wait 10 whole days to see a specialist, then another week to have surgery. These were dark days. I was steady on pain meds and making phone calls in between naps to clear my FULLY BOOKED SCHEDULE. 🙈 It was the WORST timing. I was waitlisting and referring people out left and right.
Then came post-op recovery. The first week I was fully dependent on my friend who came to help. He brought his dog with him who didn’t know what to make of me at first, but she warmed up pretty quickly. Sweet puppy.
The days passed with tasks- both recovery and work related. And everything was difficult to do and took 3x as long to complete. I watched movies, painted my growing nails, started learning Italian! but I was also bored a lot.
Eventually the stitches came out, and eventually I started PT. It did not come quickly, but eventually I saw a light start to appear at the end of a still long tunnel.
These months off work have been no vacation, but it does feel, at this point, like that time on vacation where you’ve finally begun to relax, but you also know it’s almost time to leave. I’m not close to walking unassisted, but I do get around drastically better than I did one week ago.
It’s almost time to return from this alternate reality I’ve lived for the last 9 weeks. When it started, i never thought even this day would come.
Stay tuned for more progress and how to book with our new massage therapist!!
