Panic attacks are more common than people think. Nearly 1 in 3 adults will experience one at some point. How we respond in those moments matters.

Save this. Keep it handy. Share it with someone you care about. And if panic is showing up often, therapy can help you reduce the risk, and meet it with confidence when it does: https://bit.ly/EllieLexingtonMA

What feels like a burial is often just an invitation to go sledding.

In therapy, we talk a lot about 'stuckness.' The car in this image represents the plans we made, the control we think we have, and the 'adult' way we try to force our way through life. When the storm hits, we exhaust ourselves trying to dig the car out. We rev the engine. We spin the tires. We panic.

But look to the right.

The sled represents adaptability. It doesn't fight the snow; it uses the snow. It requires gravity (surrender) rather than horsepower (force).

If you are in a season of heavy snow right now-a layoff, a breakup, a burnout-stop trying to dig out the car. The crisis isn't the snow; the crisis is insisting on driving when you are being asked to slide.

What part of your life are you trying to force right now, and what would it look like to grab the sled instead?

Friendly reminder: Keeping secrets from yourself is a full-time job that doesn't pay well.

As Van der Kolk points out, suppressing our history creates an internal "war" that affects our sleep, our relationships, and our health. The "aha!" moment is often the scariest one, but it’s also where the healing starts.

You don’t have to carry the weight of "knowing" all by yourself. At Ellie Mental Health, we’re big fans of authenticity-even the messy parts. Let’s unpack it together.

We’ve all seen the grocery store chaos: the milk is gone, the bread is cleared out, and everyone is bracing for impact. 🌨️ 🛒

But while you’re prepping your pantry, don't forget to prep your peace. Winter storms don't just bring snow; they bring isolation, heavy thoughts, and the "Long Night" of the winter blues. At Ellie, we believe your mental defenses are just as important as your salt supply.

The roads might be treacherous, but the path to your therapist is clear. We’re swapping the commute for the couch-because your progress shouldn't be "snowed in."

You can’t edit a script while you’re standing on stage.

If you’re constantly worried about how your "audience" (friends, family, followers) will react, you’ll never be honest about the plot holes. Therapy is the only room where the curtain is closed and the reviews don't matter.

We aren't characters in your story-we’re just editors. Bring us the raw, unpolished, "I-can't-believe-I-thought-this" drafts. Let’s get to work on the version of you that actually feels like home: https://bit.ly/4bdw7aF

Unpopular opinion: I’d rather you cancel on me for three months and then give me one hour of your real, unfiltered self than have you show up every week feeling like you’re "on the clock."

Let’s be honest-we’ve all been there. Sitting at coffee, nodding along, while our brains are actually three zip codes away worrying about a deadline or a mounting to-do list. We’re "present," but we aren't there.

When we treat our relationships like a shift we have to clock into, we aren’t connecting-we’re just performing. And performance? It’s exhausting for you and hollow for the people who love you.

Quality connection isn’t about how often we see each other; it’s about how much of ourselves we show up with. If you don't have the "bandwidth" to be your real self today, give yourself permission to rest. Your people don't want your "busy." They want you-the messy, tired, honest, wonderful version-whenever you’re ready to share it.

Stop checking the box. Start checking in.
