Congratulations to Joseph “Jack” Leith, tied for 3rd Place in the 2026 Lexington Medical Society Video Contest. The contest challenged medical students to create short video addressing a public health topic to promote education and awareness.

Joseph “Jack” Leith grew up in Ironton, Ohio, where he developed an early passion for medicine inspired by his father’s career as a physician. He is preparing to begin his third year at the UK COM and has a strong interest in pursuing a career in cardiology.

MacKenzie Neal is a second-year medical student on the UKCOM Lexington campus. She has lived in KY for her entire life and hopes to eventually work as a physician here. She is currently interested in pediatrics and is excited to start her clinical rotations soon and explore all that medicine has to offer.

Congratulations to Sarisha Lohano, the 2nd Place Winner of the 2026 Lexington Medical Society Video Contest. The contest challenged medical students to create a short video addressing a public health topic to promote education and awareness.

Sarisha Lohano is a first-year medical student at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and serves as the Lexington Medical Society liaison for the American Medical Association chapter at UKCOM. She is passionate about dermatology and public health advocacy. Her video focuses on recognizing how skin findings can serve as indicators of underlying health conditions and emphasizes the importance of seeking care early.

Congratulations to Alex Antony Edwin, the 1st Place Winner of the 2026 Lexington Medical Society Video Contest. The contest challenged medical students to create s short video addressing a public health topic to promote education and awareness.

Alex Antony Edwin, is a first-year medical student at the University of Kentucky. Videography has been a longtime hobby of his, so he was excited by the opportunity to combine his passions for medicine and filmmaking through this contest. This video was inspired by his own experience with sleep deprivation and a resulting car accident. He hopes to leave viewers with a greater appreciation for the critical role sleep plays in our overall health and well-being.

We are less than two weeks away! We are incredibly excited to head to the University Club Wednesday, May 20th, for the Lexington Medical Society Foundation/Stock Yards Bank annual golf tournament.

Beyond the fairways and greens, this event is about supporting medical non-profits in Central Kentucky through foundation grants. Past grant recipients include Baby Health Service, Bluegrass Council of the Blind, Mission Health/Faith Pharmacy, Surgery on Sunday & many more worthy medical non-profits.
