May in Lexington is now Bike Walk Month, a time to celebrate cycling and walking as forms of transportation, exercise and fun. 🚲

We need your help to ensure everyone has a wheel-y good time! Businesses, nonprofits, neighborhood associations, teachers and anyone with an interest in biking or walking is invited to host an event. Previous events include: trail rides, bike safety and maintenance workshops, meetups and more. When submitting your event, consider new and seasoned cyclists, as well as walkers of all ages and abilities. We also welcome events that remind commuters that streets are shared spaces for all modalities of movement.

Just two months into 2026, the CDC has confirmed over 1,100 measles cases. By comparison, the CDC confirmed 2,281 cases in all of 2025, the most in the U.S. since 1992.

Ninety two percent of this year’s confirmed cases are among people who are unvaccinated or whose vaccination status is unknown. The AAP recommends a two-dose MMR vaccination series - one dose of MMR is 93% effective against measles, and two doses are 97% effective. Read the full piece in AAP News: https://bit.ly/4r5XU1e

Periodontitis and major depression disorder have been shown to have a bidirectional association. Antidepressant use is linked to a lower prevalence of periodontitis, with a more pronounced protective effect in severe cases. These findings suggest plausible beneficial role of antidepressants on periodontitis, warranting further investigation into the underlying mechanisms.
