This is a project i have been working on for the last few months, to use traditional materials and methods (like tanning leather, and pit firing pottery) to fix up a cliff dwelling in Appalachia. And hopefully to demonstrate the connection between our land and our culture.

I took this clay from the riverbank and turned it into a small Datura-inspired jar. My hope is to pit fire it in the firepit, but it may or may not survive the process. For those unfamiliar with datura, it is a poisonous plant in the nightshade family, with a trumpet-shaped nightblooming flower, and a fruit called a “thorn apple”, which is a capsule covered in poky things.

This course is designed to go beyond the basics and provide all the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to begin using herbs for yourself and the people around you. Classes held in person at our clinic in Lexington, Ky; live online; or asynchronously. Full cost of the course is $1200, 10% discount for those paying in full before the start of class.
