⭐️ We’re excited to highlight Dr. Ross Hempel, a board-certified colorectal surgeon who’s passionate about providing whole-person, compassionate care!

Dr. Hempel is a Kentucky native from Danville and a proud University of Kentucky grad, where he earned his degree in Biology. He went on to receive his MD from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, then completed both his General Surgery Residency and a Colon & Re**al Surgery Fellowship at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

When he’s not caring for patients, you’ll likely find Dr. Hempel cheering on UK athletics, enjoying the outdoors, or spending time with his family and friends.

Surgical care at Saint Joseph Hospital just leveled up! This morning, we completed our first case assisted by the new da Vinci 5 surgical robot. 🤖 John Dvorak, MD, performed the first surgery and cut the opening-day ribbon alongside our surgical team and leaders.

The DV5 allows our surgeons enhanced precision and better visualization, improving patient outcomes and shortening recovery times with smaller incisions. 🌟 Meet Our New Nurse Practitioner! 🌟

Please join us in welcoming Maude Williams, APRN, FNP-C, to the CSGA Gastroenterology team!

With over 10 years of nursing experience — including 6 years in open-heart recovery and several years in our endoscopy center — Maude brings both skill and compassion to every patient she meets.

Before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Maude worked right here at CSGA as a GI prep nurse. She spent her days preparing patients for procedures, listening to their concerns, and collaborating closely with our physicians to guide next steps in care. This hands-on experience gave her a deep understanding of GI conditions and the opportunity to train directly alongside our gastroenterologists — knowledge she now brings to her new role as a provider.

She lives by the words of John Wesley: “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, to all the people you can, as long as you ever can.” and strives to treat every patient like family.

A proud NKU graduate with honors, Maude is passionate about listening to your concerns and helping you find answers to your GI needs. We’re so excited to have her as part of our team! 💙

Our awesome CMA, Chris Richie, has been with the Gastroenterology Physicians for 44 years. She is retiring at the end of this year and will be so sadly missed by all here are CSGA. As a tribute to her this year, our GI Staff decided to surprise her this Halloween and they all dressed up as her. I mean why not? Everybody wants to be Chris!
