Hi All,

Just a reminder that KALGBTIC has the following offices open (PRESIDENT-ELECT, SECRETARY, and TREASURER) and are seeking nominations for candidates. You are able to nominate yourself. Once the deadline for nominations have arrived, current KALGBTIC leadership will review all nominations and make selections on individuals approved to run in the division election. In order to run for an office you must be an active member of the Kentucky Counseling Association. You can register online by visiting www.kyca.org. Any questions regarding KCA membership can be directed to Helen Benningfield at helenkca@gmail.com. It is also strongly recommended that all individuals interested in pursuing an office by a member of ALGBTIC, the national division of KALGBTIC. For information about ALGBTIC please visit http://www.algbtic.org. In order to join ALGBTIC, you will need to log into your ACA account (counseling.org).

Attached you will find descriptions for the current officer positions we are hoping to fill (which include President-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer). Notice: To all KCA Groups (PLEASE NOTE THE DEADLINE FOR THE KCA NEWSLETTER..)

It is time again… to put our our KCA enews. We cannot do it without you!! Please send us your pictures, articles, news, announcements…anything that would benefit our membership.

We need this to be sent by e-mail to Karen Cook (Karen.cook.kca@gmail.com) by April 1, 2016.

The eNews is one of the easiest and fastest ways to get our membership “news”. Please respond with your local information by April 1…it takes a bit of time to get into the format you see when we send it and we do not want to send announcements of events already done!!!

Thank you all for all your time devoted to KCA and our profession.

Dear Education Shareholders,

My goal is to collaborate with all shareholders across the state to produce a system that is fair, reliable, valid and simpler.

Your feedback on this critically important topic is essential, so please plan on attending one of the sessions, "Education Town Hall Meetings: How does Kentucky define school success?" Also, I ask that you help us spread the word about these forums throughout your schools, districts and communities. A flier is attached for your convenience.

I really want you to attend the meeting that is the closest to your community and look forward to seeing you. Working with you to improve Kentucky's public schools and student achievement is truly an honor for me as Kentucky's new commissioner of education.

HB 388 - is still stuck in the Senate and time is running out. This bill could help reduce child abuse in Kentucky.

Even if you called yesterday, please call again. If you haven't called, please call today. The call will only take about 2-3 minutes to complete and lets your senator know the importance of this bill.

The 2016 Legislative session is almost over. Please call your State Senator ASAP on the message line (800-372-7181) between 7:00am -11:00pm. If you are unsure which Senator represents you, please ask for assistance at the same number. NOTE: Also ask that the same message be sent to the Senate Leadership.

Message - Get HB 388 moving and pass it to help reduce child abuse in Kentucky.

Thank you,

KCA Advocacy Committee
