Hello fb! Earlier this year, I was passing out from pain in my lower GI tract and my amazing husband made me follow up with doctors and get a colonoscopy. I was reluctant as I thought I just had gas pain, but did all the tests anyways.
During a colonoscopy a few weeks ago, my doctors found a neuroendocrine tumor that has turned our lives upside down. This is a rare, slow growing cancer that can spread to the liver and pancreas and can be hard to treat. Fear has dominated as we wait for test results on how bad it is…
While we still don’t know 100% how deep my one small spot of cancer is looking good for surgery, and it looks like I only have one spot. There is little evidence this has spread anywhere else but I do have some concerns with my liver numbers. This is all still pretty good news as my pancreas is looking fine and CT shows no signs of metastasizing.
I’m privileged to have good insurance through Jason’s employer and have gotten into care immediately. I’m so very lucky to have amazing friends and family supporting me through journey and I hope to be a cancer survivor very soon. Shannon Brooks in particular has been my rock and main support outside of Jason ❤️
Many thanks to everyone who came out on short notice to Kings Island for my Cancer Bash! The park was amazing at hosting our group and seeing so many friendly faces at my favorite place in the world was truly heart warming. The memories from that picture perfect day will keep me strong as I face this challenge.
Please do not ignore your health. Had Jason not forced me, I would have ignored it and moved on, allowing this to grow and spread. Stay on top of your health folks, do not ignore things, it can save your life. ❤️
