In 1974, President Gerald Ford declared a National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and their important work. This recognition honors the dedication of those who provide day-to-day, lifesaving, frontline services.

This year, we recognize the 50th anniversary of National EMS Week. Appropriately themed, “honoring our past and forging our future,” we pause to honor those who came before us and raised the bar. At the same time, we look forward, building on their efforts and committing ourselves to forge a future for the next generation of EMS professionals to serve their communities.
