The Church-Stephens Furniture and Undertaking Company first advertised in a local publication in 1922. At that time, the funeral home was located on the south side of the Liberty Square at the corner of East Kansas Street and Main Street. Today, that building is Restoration 1894 located next to La Costa Mexican Restaurant. A NEW START
In 1923, Church separated from the furniture business and joined Edgar Archer to form Church-Archer Funeral Home and relocated to the northwest corner of the square. Later, they purchased a 3-story brick house at 111 North Water Street. The funeral home remained at that location until July of 1980. In 1944, Church sold his interest in the business to the Archer family. STEP BACK IN TIME
As for the history of the Pasley Funeral Home, we return to the early 1900s. Looking to the east side of the Liberty Square, you would have found the Hills Funeral Home. Hill opened his funeral home in 1908 and built our present building in 1923. It was known as the Hill Funeral Home from 1908-1930. It then changed to Hessell Funeral Home from 1930-1939, the Corder Funeral Home from 1939-1949, the Pasley-Tyler Funeral Home from 1949-1961 and the Pasley Funeral Home from 1961-1980. AMENITIES AND SERVICE ADDITIONS
In 1980, Church-Archer purchased Pasley Funeral Home from John Pasley and combined both operations into our current location at 119 East Franklin Street. Newcomer’s Sons group purchased the business from the Archer family and retained the name Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home. Today, we are members of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. We continue to create meaningful ways to pay tribute to loved ones with compassion and the understanding that each life is truly unique. For us, there is no greater responsibility than honoring and preserving the story of one’s life. CONTACT OUR TEAM

Judaism is a deeply rooted faith established thousands of years ago. Within this faith community, there are sometimes differences of opinion. Traditional burial is a time-honored practice in Judaism, but the number of Jews choosing cremation is growing. https://bit.ly/45tsAzt

Many people think once they’ve purchased cemetery property or let their spouse and children know they’d like to be cremated and have their ashes scattered along a favorite hiking trail they’re done making final arrangements. That’s not the case though. https://bit.ly/44Fivhv
