Our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Tomekia Luckett, recently spoke with the Health Sciences students at Amite County High School and shared her journey in nursing, along with the many specialty paths available in the profession.

Students were highly engaged, asking questions and sharing career interests. The discussion included common mental health conditions such as anxiety, ADHD, depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder, as well as how some physical conditions can mimic mental health symptoms.

They also talked about breaking the stigma surrounding mental illness and the importance of continued education and advocacy in our communities.

We’re grateful for opportunities to connect with and inspire the next generation. 💙

❤️ Amite County Medical Services, Inc. provided health screenings at Greater Hope Homeless Shelter in Fernwood,MS through our 𝙷𝚎𝚊𝚕𝚝𝚑 𝚘𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝙼𝚘𝚟𝚎: 𝙴𝚡𝚙𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝙰𝚌𝚌𝚎𝚜𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚛𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑 𝙾𝚞𝚝𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚌𝚑 project.

Thanks to the support through the NACHC Mobile Health Advancement Funding, we’re bringing care directly to the community and expanding access to essential services.

Today our team wore red to show support for National Wear Red Day and to help raise awareness about heart disease which is the leading cause of death for women.

Heart health matters every day, and small steps like knowing your numbers, staying active, and keeping up with preventive care can make a big difference.

And even though January is almost over… it’s never too late to take care of your health.

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when routine screenings are done.

Sliding Fee Program: If you’re uninsured or underinsured, we offer a sliding fee scale that can reduce the cost of 𝚙𝚊𝚙 𝚜𝚖𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚜 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚖𝚊𝚖𝚖𝚘𝚐𝚛𝚊𝚖𝚜!!!

BCCP (Breast & Cervical Cancer Program): We also participate in Mississippi’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (BCCP).

💡 Important to know:
The BCCP program has higher income eligibility limits than our sliding fee program, which means some individuals who do not qualify for sliding fee assistance may still be eligible for FREE pap smears and mammograms through BCCP.
