I was so delighted to collaborate with Dr. Toma Omofoye, MD, FSBI of MD Anderson Cancer Center and Dr. Randy C. Miles, MD, MPH of Denver Health on this original article which underscores the importance of understanding that there is not a one-size-fits all approach when it comes to diverse practice settings, whether in the United States or globally. Fortunately, there are resources, policy measures, and research practices regardless of setting that can enhance care. As breast radiologists, we can play such an integral role regardless of where we practice to ensure patients are receiving the best, quality care they can given the circumstances. I sincerely appreciated the invitation to speak at The Healthcare Institute for Innovations in Quality, Innovations in Quality Forum on “Generative AI: Disruptions & Advances in Healthcare” alongside powerhouse speakers on the subject. Although much is to be considered when it comes to the utilization of in clinical practice, its positive implications cannot be denied in enhancing how we deliver patient care, and I am witnessing this firsthand in clinical practice. I had a wonderful time chatting with United States Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. during the American College of Radiology Annual Meeting. Sincerest gratitude to the Senator for co-sponsoring the re-introduction of The Find it Early Act, which would ensure that all health insurance plans cover screening and diagnostic breast imaging with no out-of-pocket costs for women with dense breasts or at high risk for breast cancer. Also last week, the Senator introduced The Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act which would assist in access to care for our patients, not just in radiology, but the entire house of medicine. Thank you, Senator, for sponsoring these critical pieces of legislation (as well as being a diehard Royals fan). Go Kansas City Royals!

I was so honored to give one of the keynote lectures at The ARRS Annual Meeting on “Breast Imaging Legislative Updates” during Scientific Session 23 Breast Imaging: Supplemental Screening, alongside some incredible minds carrying out important, cutting-edge work in our field. It’s amazing to see the level of activity of breast imaging legislation at the state and federal level. It’s important for all of us as a radiology and community to get involved and advocate for our patients to ensure life-saving access to care.

Last week, the American Cancer Society National Breast Cancer Roundtable hosted a powerful webinar, “Breast Density and Breast Cancer Risk: What You Need to Know,” featuring leading experts - Dr. Rachel Brem (Brem Foundation), Dr. Amy Patel (Liberty Hospital Breast Care Center), and Leslie Yerger (My Density Matters).

Together, they shared key insights on breast density, cancer risk, new screening guidelines, and legislative updates.

👏 A huge thank you to these physicians, patient advocates, and policy experts for equipping more women with the knowledge to make informed decisions about breast health!
