Meet CCA Therapist– Chris Worth! 🎉
Chris (he/him) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a strong foundation in clinical social work and extensive experience supporting individuals through meaningful, sustainable change. He utilizes a strengths-based, person-centered approach and integrates evidence-based practices to empower clients, build resilience, and help them reach their personal goals. Chris earned his Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Central Missouri and his Master of Social Work from the University of Missouri–Kansas City. He has been formally trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) since 2021 and is currently working toward full EMDR certification. Chris is deeply committed to providing compassionate, collaborative, and effective care, and values creating a therapeutic space where clients feel heard, supported, and capable of growth. Chris’s favorite self-care activities include poking around thrift stores and antique shops, learning about woodworking in his garage, spending time with his two children and his partner and challenging himself with new cooking projects.

🖤✨ Black History is Every Day ✨🖤
Black history is not confined to a month on the calendar. It is lived every day—woven into the culture, progress, and foundations of our society.
February gives us space to intentionally spotlight these stories and contributions, but this history extends far beyond a single month. Black history is American history. World history. Lived history.
As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded us,
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
Remembering history helps ensure we carry its lessons forward—not just in February, but every day. 🌍🤝

🎥 CCA Featured in Missouri First Responder Network EMDR Video
We are excited to share that the Missouri First Responder Network invited Clinical Counseling Associates to be featured in a new educational video explaining Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and its impact on first responders.
This video highlights the important clinical work being done within our practice and includes participation from CCA clinicians John Clymore, Eric Hansen, and Sheena Kirkendoll, along with a few of our clients who generously shared their experiences.
This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase how EMDR supports healing, resilience, and mental wellness in the first responder community.
🔗 Feel free to share the video as a resource with your clients and community partners.

🌈✨ It’s International Play Therapy Week! ✨🌈
Play is a child’s natural language. Through play, children express feelings, process experiences, build resilience, and make sense of their world. 🧸🎨
Play therapy creates safe, supportive, and imaginative spaces where children can heal, grow, and thrive. This week, we proudly celebrate the dedicated play therapists who show up every day with creativity, compassion, and clinical expertise to make a lasting difference in young lives.
A special shout-out to our current and aspiring play therapists at CCA — Jill Robinson, Alexis Hernandez, Tiffane Friesen., Veronica Vaughan, and Tiffany Traub! 🎉✨
Thank you for the heart, creativity, and dedication you bring to children and families every day. We are so grateful for all that you do! 💛

📢 Blog Alert! ❄️✨
Take a few minutes today to read our latest blog:
“Building a Winter Wellness Routine: Staying Mentally Healthy in the Cold Months” by Cameron Cosens, Master of Social Work Intern.
The colder months can bring shorter days, lower energy, and shifts in mood that impact our overall well-being. If you’ve noticed changes in motivation, sleep, or stress levels during winter, you’re not alone. 🌨️🧠
In this blog, Cameron shares practical and approachable strategies for building a winter wellness routine, from supporting your nervous system and maintaining connection, to creating structure and prioritizing self-care during the darker months. These tools can help you stay grounded, resilient, and mentally healthy all season long.

When winter rolls around, it’s not unusual to feel a little more sluggish or down than usual. The winter blues is a term people often use to describe the mild mood changes that can pop up when daylight hours shrink and colder weather keeps us indoors more often. Clinical Counseling Associates had another wonderful year in 2025!
Owners Jill Robinson and Sheena Kirkendoll couldn’t be more grateful for the growth CCA has experienced in the five years since opening its doors. What began as a vision has grown into a thriving, community-centered practice serving individuals and families across three locations.
This year reflects more than numbers, it reflects impact. From supporting mental health in our community, to expanding specialized services, to mentoring clinicians and welcoming students into the field, 2025 was a year of meaningful progress.
We are proud of our incredible clinicians, the compassion they bring to every session, and the unique healing environments we’ve created, including the integration of therapy animals who continue to bring comfort and connection to so many.
Thank you to our clients, community partners, and team for being part of this journey. We look forward to continuing to grow, serve, and strengthen mental health in our community.

🚓🎖️ Series Is Back! 🎖️🚓
We’re excited to share that CCA’s Sheena Kirkendoll and Eric Hansen have kicked off the training series again: Integrating First Responder & Military Culture into Clinical Practice.
Part #1 focused on Law Enforcement Officers & Dispatchers. This training explores the unique cultural norms, stressors, identity factors, and invisible injuries that impact those who serve on the front lines.
Understanding first responder and military culture is essential for clinicians. Without cultural competence, we risk misunderstanding behaviors rooted in survival training, minimizing occupational trauma exposure, or unintentionally creating barriers to trust. This training helps clinicians:
▪️ Build credibility and rapport
▪️ Recognize cumulative trauma and moral injury
▪️ Navigate confidentiality concerns and stigma
▪️ Better support officers, dispatchers, and service members in a culturally responsive way
▪️ Expand practical tools for assessment, case conceptualization, and intervention within first responder and military culture
▪️ And so much more
A special thank you to our outstanding guest speakers:
✨ Roger Lane with the Independence Police Department
✨ Karen Blanton with the Kansas Bureau of Investigations
Your insight, transparency, and dedication to wellness make this work stronger and more impactful.
We’re looking forward to the next part of the series covering Fire Service & EMS, which will continue to deepen our understanding and support for those who serve.

🕯️ Holocaust Remembrance Day 🕯️
Today, we pause to remember the six million Jewish individuals and the millions of others whose lives were taken during the Holocaust. We honor their memories, their families, and the generations forever impacted by this profound tragedy. 🤍
Holocaust Remembrance Day is not only about remembering the past, it is also about recognizing our responsibility in the present. Through remembrance, we deepen our understanding of the lasting effects of trauma, grief, and loss, and we are reminded of the essential role empathy, awareness, and compassion play in healing individuals and communities. 🌍
At Clinical Counseling Associates, we are committed to creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and valued. Through reflection, education, and meaningful dialogue, we strive to contribute to a world rooted in dignity, understanding, and care.
🕊️ We remember. We honor. We continue the work of healing. 🕊️
