Our Breast Care Center team is hosting the Love Yourself mammogram screening event today, and we’ve already welcomed over 36 women for screenings. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made today possible and for supporting women’s health. Don’t forget to grab a swag bag and register for a chance to win a donated gift basket! We are accepting walk-ins until 4:00 pm today.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped out at last Friday’s mobile food pantry! This month, we highlighted breast health and cancer awareness, with our Breast Care Center team sharing valuable information. Thanks to your support, we served 627 adults and children from eight counties, provided hygiene products to 47 families, and diapers to 11 of those families. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our own Amy Johnston, a breast cancer survivor and manager of the Breast Care Center, shared her incredible story with the Courier-Tribune. Diagnosed in 2021, is a staunch advocate for consistent, annual screening mammograms.

Dr. Amy Patel recently took part in the Healthy KC Networking Forum, where she addressed the topic, Advancing Health Equity in Minority Women. She shared the stage with Elizabeth Reynoso from El Centro Inc. and Jan Thomas, a breast cancer survivor and American Cancer Society VOICES of Black Women Ambassador.

“Early detection is crucial for improving survival rates and often results in less invasive treatment. However, there is still much work ahead to close the gaps in breast care disparities, whether in education, financial resources, or transportation access.”

October 2nd is American Cancer Society's Power of Pink Day! If you have been putting off your , now is the time to get back on track! We recommend annual screening mammography beginning at age 40 in average risk women and to continue to do so as long as you’re in good health. All women should be risk assessed by age 25 to see if earlier imaging surveillance is needed.

We’re conveniently located on the ground floor of Medical Plaza East at Liberty Hospital. Breast care has been part of Liberty Hospital for decades, but our new Women’s Imaging Center opened in 2014, creating a female-friendly setting where we now offer comprehensive breast care for women across Kansas City metro’s Northland.
