Yesterday we celebrated one year of occupying the old antique mall, turning it into the physical therapy clinic of our dreams. Wild. Time really does fly.
We don’t have a huge social media presence and we do struggle bragging on this clinic and ourselves a bit (definitely out of our comfort zone). But Last week a patient commented how incredible not only our space is, but our business in general and the services we provide (we needee to hear that), and after stewing on that comment for several days we’ve come to the realization that we couldn’t agree more. Owning a business in a saturated field is hard. Owning a business in healthcare is hard. Owning an independently owned healthcare business is HARD. We choose our own hard and we will continue to choose this hard. We’ve added more equipment, more services, and more therapists since this time last year, and we couldn’t be more proud of all the additions. We love this space, our staff, and our patients. Thank you to everyone who continues to support us!!!

Happy December 1st and winter weather advisory day! We are open and Gary will start clearing off the parking lot as we continue to get more snowfall. Please be safe - if you do not feel comfortable driving DON’T - please call to cancel your appt and if we do not hear from you we will be calling to make sure you are okay. If you are coming to therapy please pull up to the front and we can park your car for you. If you need anything PLEASE CALL US.

On another note (sorry long post)
It’s the last month of the year which means in a few weeks your insurance plans will be starting over, unless your plan does not run in a true calendar year. We will be requesting copies of everyone’s insurance cards so we are able to verify benefits for the 2026 year, regardless of new insurance or not.

Open enrollment is about to be LIVE!
As a provider we wanted to share a few common issues/misunderstandings we run into with patients pretty much on a daily basis regarding Medicare and Medicare Advantage Plans.
Even though advantage plans are a part of the part C of federal Medicare they DO NOT follow Medicare guidelines, instead they follow the guidelines of the commercial payer which would be your Aetna, Humana, UHC, etc. So when you sign up for an advantage plan, you DO NOT have traditional Medicare. Over the last few years, especially this last year, we continue to see barrier after barrier with advantage plans because they dictate your care and how you use it (which every insurance does, just ask your dr). Recently I’ve had UHC Advantage reps deny PT for post op care of TKA, or Parkinson’s diagnosis with frequent falls because “those diagnoses just don’t justify skilled need.” These are just a few to paint a very small picture for you.
We understand health insurance can be confusing and messy, and everyone has to choose plans they can afford but please, please, PLEASE do your due diligence and know exactly what you are signing up for with Medicare and the advantage plans. Ask questions! Then ask more questions!!!

Liz and I have been doing this PT thing for 15+ years and if we are being honest and transparent (2 very important values of ours) the medical/insurance world continues to deliver us body blow after body blow. Premiums continue to go up ⬆️, deductibles up ⬆️ , authorization needed for this, authorization needed for that, denials upon denials, and all while OUR reimbursement rate goes down ⬇️ (simple math reveals that doesn’t math 🤦‍♂️ ) Some days, it’s hard to not let the frustrations win…

But…

…Then we attend a patient’s volleyball game, and get to see her shine and compete again. WORTH IT! We sit next to her mom (a coworker/friend) who trusted us with her care. WORTH IT! I hear my kids ask “which one is our patient, dad?” WORTH IT! She then comes up to us after game to thank us and get a picture. WORTH IT!

After all that I just want to say, thank you to all that trust us with your own care, your kid’s care, your mom and dad’s care! Thank you all so very much!

8 years ago our very first patient walked through Complete PTs doors and started it all. I’m not quite sure he understands the impact he had and still has on us and our business (I wish all of you could have seen and heard the excitement and nervousness from Gary). He took a chance on us and gave us hope. We had no idea what the heck we were doing running a business (still don’t) but we knew we had something to offer. Complete PT is more than a business, it’s our livelihood. It’s taught us the true meaning of resilience, adaptability, taking chances and stepping out of comfort zones and chasing our passion. It’s given us a space to connect with new faces and catch up with familiar ones. It’s allowed us to see patients lives evolve through all seasons and learn about their adventures, triumphs, careered travels, challenges and new boyfriends/girlfriends (you know how nosy Gary and I are). Year 7 was big for us as we took a huge leap and purchased a space to finally give Complete PT roots and a place to belong, and we got to celebrate that milestone a few weeks ago with our customer appreciation event. What an incredible feeling seeing so many of you coming to show your support - we are still floating on cloud 9! We are forever grateful for each and every one of you and for the community who has helped us realize our dreams and raise this family of ours.
