Celebrating Lisa and 17 Years with Focus Healthcare

For the past 17 years, Lisa has poured her time, energy, heart, and care into Focus Healthcare.
Her journey started when a good friend told her she would be great at the job — and even though she admits she didn’t know exactly what she was applying for at the time, it became so much more than just a job.

Lisa has always had a soft spot for the elderly, and that heart showed in everything she did. Whether she was scheduling care, answering the phone, matching the right caregiver with the right client, or simply being a cheerful voice on the other end of the line, Lisa made a difference.

She shared that one of the things she will miss most is the staff, the clients she grew close to over the phone, and even the postman who always brought a smile to her day.

When asked what she hopes people remember most, Lisa said she wants to be remembered not just as a scheduler, but as a friend.

And that is exactly how we will remember her.
Lisa, thank you for 17 years of dedication, kindness, loyalty, and heart. You have been such a meaningful part of Focus Healthcare, and your impact will not be forgotten.

💙 Thank you, Lisa.

💍 Love has no expiration date.

Eight couples at Morningside Place in Overland Park recently renewed their vows, including Jimmie Kaye and Charlie Cummings, who have been married for nearly 60 years. 💕

Even as Jimmie Kaye lives with dementia, their love story is still being written.

"Dementia doesn't diminish their love," said Morningside Place's life engagement director Shauniece Banks White.

When families leave the hospital, one of the biggest questions is:

“What happens next?”

We’re proud to be listed as a trusted private duty home care resource by NKC Health—right here in the Kansas City community.

At Focus Healthcare, we go beyond basic care: ✔️ 24/7 support (including nights, weekends & holidays)
✔️ Specialized memory & complex care
✔️ Help navigating funding options like GUIDE & VA benefits

Because care shouldn’t start when it’s convenient—
it should start when it’s needed.

Sometimes we go about our week walking blindly — without purpose or direction.

But every morning I wake up, I remind myself.

I'm not looking for the 99...
I'm looking for the ONE.

The one who needs help.
The one who needs guidance.
The one who needs someone to show up.

Meeting others in our community who share that same mission lights a fire in me.

Because making a difference for one person still means everything.

How many times have you seen a sign like this?

“If you see something, say something.”
We’re told to report suspicious activity if something doesn’t seem right.

But what about our aging community?

I can’t tell you how many calls I’ve taken recently where our local elderly residents are suffering in silence while needs go unmet.

• The fear of falling leads to skipped baths.
• The fear of a memory diagnosis leads to missed medications.
• The fear of judgment after a scam leaves thousands of dollars lost in silence.
• The fear of admitting mom or dad may need help keeps families stuck.
• Or maybe it's simply the neighbor you haven’t seen outside in weeks.

Our seniors built the communities we live in today. Protecting them is all of our responsibility.

If something doesn’t feel right —
at church, in your neighborhood, or even within your own family — say something.

Reach out.

Our job is not to sell you anything.
Our job is to protect our community and connect people with resources that have been there all along.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do for someone is simply start the conversation.

Caring for someone in their final days is one of the most emotional and difficult journeys a family can face. It’s an honor we never take lightly.

We are incredibly proud of the compassion, professionalism, and heart our caregivers bring to every family we serve.

When families take the time to share words like these, it reminds us why we do what we do every single day.

Thank you to our amazing caregivers for showing up with kindness and dignity when it matters most. 💙

Sometimes there are days where you can’t even make a story up.

While visiting one of our clients in the hospital, it was placed on my heart to buy an extra coffee and give it to someone who might need a little joy that day. I asked the cashier to randomly choose one, and she handed me a caramel latte.

Later, after a long day, I stepped off the elevator on the wrong floor by accident. As I turned around, a woman rushed past saying she needed to go get a coffee for a coworker who was having one of the worst days she’d had in a long time.

In that moment, it clicked.

I stopped her and said, “Actually, I think I already have the coffee for her.”

She led me back to meet Barb. When I handed her the drink and told her it had been placed on my heart to bring someone joy today, she became emotional.

Then she asked what kind it was.

A caramel latte.

Her favorite.

We shared a moment of prayer, and I went about my day.

If you see this today, take a moment to spread a little joy. Sometimes joy isn’t something we find — it’s something we create. ✨

Today I had the opportunity to meet another incredible local resource who truly goes above and beyond to meet the needs of our aging community.

During our conversation, we quickly found a shared concern for our veterans. Making sure they are not just supported, but fully equipped with the resources they need to thrive.

When community partners align with the same heart and mission, real impact happens. 🇺🇸
