Our Great Gatsby Speakeasy Valentine’s Extravaganza turned into something unforgettable when one of our residents completely stole the spotlight. No script. No rehearsal. Just pure personality, charm, and a room full of laughter.

This is what long-term care is supposed to be — not just care, but life still being lived.

Flappers, fedoras, jazz, and a star performance we could never have planned if we tried. Nights like this remind us the stories don’t end when someone moves in… sometimes they just get louder.

Love was in the air and the jazz was jumpin’ at Avalon View tonight.

Our residents stepped back into the Roaring 20s for a Valentine’s celebration filled with music, laughter, dancing, and a whole lot of sparkle. Feathers, pearls, suspenders, and sharp hats took over the room as couples and friends enjoyed an afternoon that felt straight out of a speakeasy.

We shared sweet treats, classic tunes, and plenty of smiles. Some residents showed off dance moves they haven’t used in years — and clearly never forgot. Moments like these remind us that fun, connection, and romance don’t have an age limit.

At Avalon View, we don’t just celebrate holidays — we recreate memories.

Because every generation deserves a night out on the town.

🚨💘 Swept Off Their Feet at Avalon View! 💘🚨

Today our residents felt the love in the most special way! The Clay County Sheriff’s Department stopped by with handmade Valentine’s cards, warm smiles, and hearts full of kindness.

From sweet handwritten notes to one-on-one visits, laughter filled the halls as the deputy took time to sit, talk, and personally deliver valentines to our residents. For many, it wasn’t just a card — it was connection, respect, and a reminder that they are valued members of this community.

Moments like these matter.

With 75-degree weather, we flipped the script and brought the fun outside into the sunshine — just what we needed to kick those winter blues!

🎉 Milestone Moment for Avalon View Health and Wellness! 🎉

We are proud to share an important achievement for Avalon View Health and Wellness. Just two and a half years into our organization’s journey, this facility has completed a rigorous 10-week process focused on developing, outlining, and showcasing the quality initiatives and outcomes that define their care.

This work was submitted for review by the American Health Care Association as part of the Bronze Quality Award program, the first step in a three-level pathway toward excellence in care and operations.

This accomplishment reflects months of preparation, dedication beyond regular hours, honest self-reflection, and a commitment to transparency and growth. It speaks to a team willing to challenge themselves, strengthen their systems, and continuously improve for the residents and families they serve.

We applaud the Administrators and their teams for committing to this journey, holding themselves to a higher standard, and successfully completing their application and submission this week.
Most importantly, this is just the beginning. As Avalon View Health and Wellness moves forward, the focus now turns to continued progress and the journey toward Silver and Gold, with quality and compassion guiding the way. 💙

It is Activities Professionals Week, and today we celebrate the heart behind the fun at Avalon — Jackie Nelson, our Director of Activities.

Jackie has built a robust, engaging, and meaningful activities program that goes far beyond a calendar on the wall. From nursing home raves to Fourth of July celebrations, live Elvis performances, baking days, dancing, singing, and moments of pure joy — Jackie Christner creates experiences that give our residents something to look forward to every single day.

She understands that activities are not “extra.” They are essential to dignity, connection, memory, and quality of life. Her time, her talents, and the treasures she pours into our residents are felt throughout the entire building.
