Susan's aunt lost her battle with cancer. She was always kind to me. She will be missed.

As you probably know by now, we've been swimming in tomatoes for a few weeks. Today Trent and I went out to pick them until we got tired of it. 56 pounds of tomatoes later we gave up. We probably should have gone to market. It was totally my fault. As Yogi Berra would say, "I mis-underestimated how much there was". We managed to give away plenty. I suppose it's time to can some.

Our nation celebrates 249 years since we told the King to pound sand. I will be spending my Independence Day freeing myself from a clogged bathtub drain. The were some stones lodged in the pipe. They looked to be pumice stone. Nobody confessed to putting some rather large rocks down the drain, so I have to assume that these are meteorites that fell from the sky last week. We are still swimming in tomatoes. The peppers and eggplant will be coming in soon so we will be going back to the market.

Originally our plan was to return to the market this week. There were a few mistakes made. The result is that besides tomatoes there would be little going to market. As far as tomatoes go, we have way too many for our own consumption. Susan can only eat so many tomato sandwiches. I've been giving plenty away. Still, we are awash in tomatoes. So many that we fear no skunks. Today I saw something flaming fall from the sky. As it turns out it was a meteor. I've never seen one during the day before.

Our Field tomatoes are starting to ripen. Most commercial growers pick their tomatoes green. They're gassed on the way to market and have no real vine ripened flavor. For Father's Day we planted Six pounds of bean seeds. Some of the fish in the aquaponic system are fathers. Today I saw a number of tiny baby fish in the tank. Pulled the rest of the garlic today too. We will dry it, and what we don't use will be planted in September. I hope all you fathers have a great day

Long time no communication, I finally get a break. Unfortunately, the break is due to a pulled muscle in my back. We've made it to the Easley Farmer's Market twice. Things went well there and now plenty of people are enjoying the food we've grown. The season is young and most of our production is still ahead

It is a god thing that Mother's Day is only one day a year. The mothers that we have here get a day where they don't have to deal with the three "C's" Cooking, Cleaning, and Carpooling. The menfolk handle this on Mother's Day. It sure makes us appreciate What the mothers do day to day. More importantly Motherhood has saved humanity from extinction since the beginning of the species.

Things sure are ramping up around here. We started planting the Qing Bain beans and bottle gourds. Yesterday Trent and Kate put in about 100 pepper plants. Last night a tornado came through and killed off about a third of them. Susan and I were coming home from an errand when it hit. As it turned out we were in its path. Good thing it was a weak tornado. When the warning came, we were on the road with no time to seek cover. Susan was driving and kept us on the road. It was dark and we couldn't see it coming. When you pass through the tornado at night for a few moments everything goes white, and your visibility drops to zero. The wind is so strong that it tears the raindrops apart. Your headlights get reflected back. Then it's over and you can unclench your bowels

Bo continues to set eggplants. I think he has set about 150 in so far. Next comes the peppers. I dropped another eight bags of "Black Cow" and several bags of grass clippings for the next run of transplants. At peak production each eggplant will give between one and five fruit each week. Peppers produce at about the same rate. After the peppers are in, we can concentrate on our gourds and melons.

Bo has been setting the eggplants. The Provider beans are doing well. The first 24 tomato plants are already blossoming. The next 16 have been set. We are past the danger of frost so we can confidently set more. The trellis is still a wreck, and the grass needs to be cut, but we're on track,

The ten foot long table actually hold 11 trays. the trays are 11 inches wide, in 10 feet you gain an extra tray. As you probably noticed the new table is done. The rough-in work for the doggie door got started. The opening dimensions that are required are not listed specifically. They are listed three times as different sizes. It's Good Friday We hope the holiday weekend brings the best to you and yours. I will be happy to see Susan and Trent get back from Erie safely.
