A lifelong resident of the Chicago area, Dr. Thomas McGowan began practicing family medicine in 2002. He received his undergraduate degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1995 and his medical degree from Rush Presbyterian College of Medicine in Chicago in 1999. He completed his residency through Rush University at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. As a physician, Dr. McGowan treats each patient uniquely — with respect and compassion — and values the trust and respect he has earned from his patients in return. Dr. McGowan, who is married and has four children, enjoys coaching his children’s sports teams, participating in scouting, and traveling with his family in his free time.

---We will also be having a FLU/ COVID 19 VACCINE CLINIC on the following days:
Wednesday, October 2nd from 5pm- 7pm
AND
Saturday, October 5th from 8am- 11 am.
***For better efficiency please schedule your appointment in advance for this day by calling the office (224) 424-4624 or sending a portal message specifying which date and times that you are available to come in. We will then send you a portal message back confirming the scheduled appointment date and time. (Please do not send appointment requests/messages through Facebook.)
***Please note that we will be staffing for and providing VACCINES ONLY during these clinic times. We will not be providing medical care for other health or ill concerns during these hours. Please use the off-hours emergency line for urgent medical needs over the course of the weekend as usual.

NORTH SUBURBAN FAMILY PHYSICIANS is a small, yet busy family medicine office in Libertyville, IL. We are professional, fast-paced and engaging with both our staff and patients. Established in 2016, our office has 4 providers that provide medical care to all age groups.

Seeking to hire a Prior Authorization Specialist/Referrals Coordinator to work out of our medical office, who is responsible for working with our providers and reviewing health insurance claims to evaluate and analyze information relative to provider-submitted requests for health care products and services, and to ensure that the appropriate authorization is given. This team member will also process referrals ensuring appropriate in-network specialist criteria. Finally, they will assist reception staff with front desk reception duties including but not limited to answering phones, scheduling appointments, greeting patients and appointment intake.

Qualifications:

Strong communication skills.
Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic and accountability.
Prior experience in a family medical office or hospital intake setting.
Understanding of medical terminology; completion of a medical terminology course.
Understanding of insurance plans, billing and coding.
Understanding and experience in the completion of patient referrals and prior authorization requests for both medical imaging, medical services and pharmaceutical coverage.
Experience with AthenaOne EMR, Covermymeds.com, EviCore, Arcadia, and other web-based insurance authorization and EMR platforms is a plus.

We have received a limited quantity of the NEW Pfizer COVID 19 Booster Vaccine. We will only be administering this vaccine on the following dates and times by appointment only:

---Tuesday 9/20/2022 4pm - 6 pm

---Saturday 10/01/22 8am - 12pm

This vaccine is recommended for everyone 12 years and older that has received their primary Covid 19 vaccine series as well as any prior booster vaccine. 2 months must have passed since the last booster dose. This new booster contains both the original Pfizer COVID 19 plus the current Omicron varient strain that continues to be very present in the community.

-Please call the office or send a portal message to request an appointment. In your request, please specify which date and some times that you would like an appointment for. We will confirm your appointment date and time in return. (224)424-4624.

-We do not have the new Moderna COVID 19 booster vaccine. Patients that have received the Moderna COVID 19 vaccine previously CAN receive the new Pfizer Booster Vaccine.

*If you cannot make either of these days, please obtain the vaccine from your pharmacy. We will NOT be administering this vaccine during our normal office hours. While we feel this vaccine is very important; time constraints, staffing, and the many daily services we provide to our patients limit our small office from being able to provide this service during our normal office hours. We want to continue providing you the best care!*
