Last week, we threw on our boots and turned up the twang for a good time at our Yeehaw Country Showdown & Chili Cook-Off. Our residents came out in full Western spirit to enjoy an afternoon filled with hearty chili tastings, country tunes, and a good time. The chili competition was fierce, with homemade recipes bringing the heat (and the flavor!) as our guests sampled their way through crockpots of deliciousness. Our Hat Bar was a hit! Guests picked out cowboy hats and had a blast customizing them with all the fixin’s, feathers, bands, and more. Everyone left looking wonderful and feeling full of joy.

Our Vice President of Culinary, Chef Kevin Penn, CEC, CCA, was recently honored as the American Culinary Federation Central Regional winner for the 2025 Dr. L.J. Minor Chef Professionalism Award.

This award honors chefs who exemplify professionalism, and Chef Kevin is more than deserving. His leadership has elevated dining across 150+ StoryPoint Group communities, turning meals into experiences and dining rooms into gathering spaces. We couldn’t be prouder. Way to go, Chef Kevin!

Today’s ladies lunch with our residents was a delightful and memorable gathering filled with laughter, great conversation, and a touch of culinary flair. The highlight of the afternoon was the spectacular flaming Saganaki presentation, a fiery Greek cheese dish that captivated everyone’s attention. As the Saganaki was flambéed tableside, the warm glow of the flames added an exciting and festive ambiance, making the experience truly special. It was a perfect blend of delicious food, camaraderie, and a little theatrical flair that left everyone smiling and eager for the next get together.

Last week, our talented chefs hosted a delightful demonstration on how to make the perfect homemade apple pie. Guests gathered to watch as our culinary team expertly guided them through each step of the process. From selecting the freshest apples and crafting a flaky, golden crust to adding just the right blend of spices for that classic, comforting flavor. The demonstration was both educational and engaging, filled with helpful tips, lively conversation, and, of course, the irresistible aroma of freshly baked pie. It was a warm, welcoming event that celebrated the art of baking and left everyone inspired to try it at home.

Last week we held a resident art show! From colorful paintings and intricate drawings to handmade quilts and photography pieces, the exhibition highlighted the passion, imagination, and skill within our community. Each artwork told a personal story, reflecting the unique perspectives and talents of the artists who call this place home. The event offered a wonderful opportunity to experience the joy and creativity our residents bring to life through their art.

Our residents enjoyed a lively Shark Week party complete with shark themed drinks and desserts. Guests sipped on “Shark bite” cocktails and everyone had fun mingling, taking photos, and celebrating the week with ocean inspired treats. It was a memorable celebration that left our residents eagerly looking forward to next year’s Shark Week!

We had a wonderful time painting rocks with our residents. Everyone chose their favorite colors and designs. The activity encouraged creativity and conversation, and the finished rocks brightened up the space with their unique charm. It was a fun and relaxing way to spend the afternoon together.
