Our Story
Dr. Aras Tijunelis trained as a general surgeon in Detroit. There he received extensive hands on training in diverse general surgery procedures with emphasis in trauma surgery. After completing a full 5 years General Surgery residency and having passed the general surgery boards, he chose to continue his education and was accepted at University of Wisconsin-Madison Plastic and Reconstructive Fellowship. While in training for plastic surgery, he flew regular missions with UW Medflight as the on-board flight surgeon. As part of his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training, he successfully completed microsurgical training course, traveled to Ecuador (for Nicaplast) to perform many reconstructive surgeries and did an externship in Cosmetic Surgery in Newport Beach, CA. He has also recently traveled to India for a mission trip. In 2000, Dr. Tijunelis completed his Plastic Surgery residency at University of Wisconsin. He then started his own Plastic and Reconstructive surgery practice in Libertyville, IL named Lake County Plastic Surgery. Lake County Plastic Surgery has flourished ever since. Dr. Tijunelis is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. In 2006, with Dr. Tijunelis as the medical director, Lake County Plastic Surgery relocated to a 4000 sq ft state of the art facility including a fully accredited operating room. All forms of cosmetic surgery and all types of anesthesia can be provided. Now, Dr. Tijunelis has opened a second office, for consultations only, in Downtown Chicago to better serve the downtown Chicago area. Besides operating at Lake County Plastic Surgery, Dr. Tijunelis is privileged and on staff at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Northshore (Highland Park Hospital, Skokie, Evanston, and Glenview), Vista Medical Center and Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha. Dr. Tijunelis and Lake County Plastic Surgery provide care to the entire Lake County area including Gurnee, Great Lakes Naval Base, Grayslake, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Vernon Hills, Wadsworth, Lincolnshire, Antioch and even into South Eastern Wisconsin, like Pleasant Prairie, Kenosha, Twin Lakes, Burlington and Lake Geneva. Dr. Tijunelis enjoys spending time and traveling with his beautiful wife Kim and their two lovely daughters. He enjoys outdoor activities such as cycling and camping with the kids. He is fluent in English and Lithuanian, and can understand and speak some German and Spanish.
