At our October 18th - Somatic & Restorative Yoga Workshop, students felt in their bodies that slowing down is sometimes the best medicine — renewing the body and calming the mind and emotions.
We are deeply grateful to Cara Chang Mutert for gracing TBY Yoga with her presence and wisdom. 💛
Cara is the owner and director of The Yoga Lounge, which she founded in 2004. Her teaching is rooted in Iyengar alignment, yet remains gentle, meditative, flowing, and deeply therapeutic. With more than 30 years of study and over 1,000 hours of training, Cara leads Yoga Alliance–approved 200- and 500-hour teacher trainings, as well as domestic and international retreats.
We’re honored to have shared space, stillness, and insight with such a luminous teacher. 🕊️

✨9:30am Restorative & Gentle Sundays with Jax Labayen .gentleandrestorativeyoga


Jax was introduced to Bikram yoga in 2007. Although, she found her most important life lesson years later in Restorative yoga. That life lesson was the importance of slowing down and relaxing. On a biological level, it increases activation of the parasympathetic nervous system - our body’s “rest response”. In a world full of stress triggers, Jax is focused on cultivating a sense of calm in her classes.
Most recently, Jax attended Judith Lasater’s Relax + Renew Level I restorative yoga training in Stockbridge, MA. She infuses restorative elements in each class and always creates a restful space for students. Jax believes in “living your yoga”. She maintains a consistent practice, both on and off the mat. Her favorite class is restorative + gentle with her primary yoga teacher, and mentor, Julia Jonson.
Jax is a strong advocate of mental health and stays current on research that provides evidence that yoga positively influences mental health outcomes. She enjoys reading psychology and bodywork literature that helps her understand the benefits of yoga through other lenses popular in the western world. Jax believes deeply in the importance of fascia in maintaining overall health.
Jax is also an HR professional specializing in the coaching and development of high-potential, early career talent. Her knowledge of adult learning principles and ability to provide personalized feedback come across in her teaching style.

We are excited to launch another session of this transformative nine-month training. Each cohort is highly rewarding for both students and teachers, and research shows that the best learning develops gradually over time. Our program is designed accordingly, paced to help you not only absorb information but also truly embody and retain wisdom. ✨Sunday night yoga practice – Chances are that on Sunday evenings you want to distract yourself from the busy week ahead. Or ruminate over to-do lists and what-ifs related to the week behind you. You may even find yourself caught somewhere in between those conflicting compulsions. Sunday Scaries are not conducive toward restful sleep.

✨What if you try something different? In this evening yoga practice, you can allow yourself to simply slow down and tune into your body and your breath. As you move through the poses you may notice that without even trying you can ease the tension, physical as well as psychological and set the mood for restful sleep and the week ahead. Following a 45-minute slow, restorative and gentle practice, we will conclude with Yoga Nidra.

✨Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation — there are no physical movements or poses — it uses deep breathing and mindfulness techniques as well support from props to calm the mind and relax the body. Yoga Nidra promotes physical, emotional, and mental relaxation which improves the quality of your sleep.

✨With this evening yoga practice, set yourself up for success in the week ahead with breathwork, meditation, relaxation and hopefully a good night’s sleep.

🌟Biologically, breath delivers oxygen to your cells — without it, we can survive only minutes. But beyond survival:
🌟Energetically, in yogic and Ayurvedic traditions, breath = prana, or life force. It’s not just air — it’s energy.
🌟Emotional Regulation - Breath practices help process stuck emotions. Ancient yogis knew what trauma researchers are proving today: breath is a path to healing.
🌟Spiritual Awakening - In many traditions, breathwork is used to unlock altered states, higher consciousness, or inner stillness — the kind where deep peace lives.
