Highlights:

- Alcohol, ni****ne and ma*****na remain the most commonly used substances among Americans 12 years old and older.

- Approximately 1 in 4 Americans 12 years or older reported illicit drug use in the past year

- Nearly 50 million Americans met diagnostic criteria for a substance use disorder in the past year

- 21.4 million Americans had a past year major depressive episode (MDE)

- 14.3 million adults reported serious thoughts of su***de in the past year
