🎓 First CEU Event – A Meaningful Evening at The MET 🎓

Legacy Hospice proudly hosted our very first CEU event last night at The MET in Lima, and we’re thrilled with the turnout! Guests enjoyed beautifully presented food and an engaging, heartfelt presentation by our chaplain, Mark Lovely, on the topic “Relief Through Grief.”

I started out in healthcare right out of high school and worked as an aid for many years before deciding to further my career. I attended Rhodes State College and graduated with my LPN license in 2013. I love being a nurse because of the joy it brings to help others. I really enjoy working at Legacy Hospice, we have the best team of people who really care about our patients.

I graduated from the University of Findlay, and I’m proud to bring that foundation into the care I provide every day.

Meet our Nurse, Hannah!

Growing up with three brothers and moving frequently due to my father’s job, I learned early on how to adapt and connect with people from all walks of life. After high school, I explored various jobs, searching for the right path, until a thoughtful boss recognized something in me and encouraged me to pursue healthcare. With her support, I earned my STNA and worked in that role for three years before moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to become an LPN.

My early years were spent in long-term care, but everything changed when I transitioned into hospice. It was in hospice care that I truly found my calling—a place where my heart, skills, and purpose came together. Each role I’ve held in this field has only deepened my love and commitment to this sacred work. Wanting to do more for both patients and my team, I went back to school to obtain my RN.

Now, working with Legacy, I feel both challenged and at home. I look forward to leading with compassion, sharing knowledge, and helping our staff provide the comfort and dignity our patients and their families deserve during one of life’s most vulnerable times.

Meet our Nurse, Mercades!

I chose to become a hospice nurse because I love leaving a positive impact on my patients and their families during their toughest times of their lives. This calling became especially clear to me after my grandmother passed away. During her final days, the care she received from hospice nurses left a lasting impression on me. They weren’t just caregivers—they were a source of comfort, dignity, and peace for both her and our entire family. Watching them work with such kindness, patience, and respect inspired me to offer that same level of care to others. I received my nursing degree at Owens Community College. One of the best things about working for Legacy Hospice is we’re not just a company, we’re a family! As an RN Case Manager, I strive to bring the same compassion and support to my patients and their families during life’s most vulnerable moments.

Meet our Nurse, Jason!

I chose to become a nurse and work for hospice because I believe it was the field God led me to, my goal in life is to go where He leads me and allow me to spread His love with all of my patients. I enjoy hospice because I love spreading love and peace to patients in their last days, not just physically but emotionally and spiritually as well. I enjoy working with Legacy Hospice because it is a family-oriented team. Coming to work is like coming to a second home, I love knowing that each person on our team has such a love for our patients and keeping them comfortable.

I graduated from Apollo Career Center with my LPN and do plan to get my chaplaincy license in the future.

Meet our Nurse, Beth!

I chose nursing because I enjoy taking care of people and advocating for my patients to receive the best care possible. I really enjoy never knowing what each day will bring, learning something new each day, and working as a team. I enjoy the family aspect that Legacy Hospice has to offer, and with a background in and currently working in emergency medicine, I also enjoy getting to see another side of healthcare.

I earned my Associates Degree from Owens Community College in 2024 and am currently obtaining my BSN from Chamberlain University.
