Strider needs a new home because of changing family circumstances. He is 13 years old, almost deaf, and has always lived on an 11 acre property in Vermont. Because he often barks, and likes to chase cars and rabbits, his owner believes he should be rehomed to a country home. Apart from his deafness, he is in good health now and is neutered. He is described as friendly, good natured, good with children, cats and dogs. Currently he lives with a cat and 5 year old Brittany Spaniel in Vermont. He has never been aggressive, andis housebroken. He is a short haired Icelandic Sheepdog who weighs about 35 pounds. If you can give this senior a loving home, please contact NISRA and we will put you in touch with his owner. PM National Icelandic Sheepdog Rescue Alliance via page . This dog was born on our farm, Frelsi Farm Icelandics, in Maine, but I did not hear from the rescue or the owner. We are unable to bring another adult dog into the pack of 6 here., Especially an older nearly deaf fellow. He needs a special family situation and should still have a few good years of love to give.

Hiking - "I don't like either the word or the thing. People ought to saunter in the mountains - not hike! Do you know the origin of that word 'saunter?' It's a beautiful word. Away back in the Middle Ages people used to go on pilgrimages to the Holy Land, and when people in the villages through which they passed asked where they were going, they would reply, 'A la sainte terre,' 'To the Holy Land.' And so they became known as sainte-terre-ers or saunterers. Now these mountains are our Holy Land, and we ought to saunter through them reverently, not 'hike' through them."
