What a lotta fun the kids and adults alike had at our hospital's annual egg hunt last Sunday! ๐งบ๐ฅHot dogs and cotton candy. ๐ญPosing with the giant chicken and friendly bunny. ๐ฅ๐ฐRacing through the lawn into the hospital campus woods in search of colorful prize-filled eggs. May you and your loved ones experience the same contagious joy as spring returns to the Oregon coast!
Thanks to the Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital Employee Activities Committee for arranging all the goodies, and to Penguin & Chicken Photography for sharing the memories. ๐

Serious work = yummy treats! ๐ฟ ๐ง ๐
Earlier this week, Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital hit the 365-day mark (and still counting) of having ZERO serious safety events! To celebrate, Coast Region COO Ryan Combs invited employees to enjoy sno-cones and fresh popped popcorn. ๐ Kudos to all hospital and clinic staff who work together to create a culture of safety every day, in every way! ๐ ๐ฅณ ๐

๐ฉบItโs National Doctorsโ Day โ a time to say a special thank you to physicians everywhere for the vital role they play in fostering health and healing.
โญEvery day throughout our region, physicians provide life-affirming and life-saving care. Some also help train the next generation of physicians through our Medical Education program. Others generously volunteer their time in local free clinics, on medical missions throughout the world or in other community leadership roles.
๐๏ธTake a moment to share a personal note of gratitude for a doctor you appreciate. Your message will be delivered directly to them. You may also choose to honor them with a contribution to a Samaritan Foundation, which will be reinvested in local health care.
๐ Big news in Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital! Thanks to proceeds from the Pacific Communities Health District Foundationโs 2025 Gala & Auction, weโve welcomed three new recumbent steppers. Gratefully, an additional anonymous donor generously funded a new elliptical machine for the department. ๐โโ๏ธ๐ ๏ธ
The team is thrilled to replace aging equipment and expand access for patients. As Manager Ashley Nordstrom shared, โThe Nu-Steps are our most popular and adaptable machines. Replacing them allows us to increase class sizes and serve more patients in our community.โ
With thousands of patient visits each year, this upgrade will make a real impact. Even Department Secretary Marcy couldnโt resist testing out the new gear! ๐
Earlier this week, the children at Samaritan Early Learning Center wore comfy pajamas and welcomed visitors who dropped by for the preschool's first ever Stop, Drop & Read celebration, encouraging a love of reading. ๐ ๐ ๐
Thanks to the many hospital staff, parents, community members and even firefighters ๐งโ๐ who took time to read and have a bit of fun with the young scholars. ๐

The two Samaritan hospitals in Lincoln County were well represented at the annual Oregon Coast Community College Career & Technical Education Expo last week in Newport. ๐ฉโโ๏ธ๐ฅ ๐จโโ๏ธ Our staff chatted with college and high school students about the many career possibilities in health care and demonstrated some interesting medical procedures using training tools. Oh, and there was the popular photobooth, too, for the future surgeons, techs and other medical pros to show off their best smiles. ๐ท ๐

โค๏ธ Today, Samaritans across our system are proudly wearing red for National ! And this is only some of them - more to come!
American Heart Association's Go Red for Women annual campaign raises urgently needed awareness about cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death among women.
By wearing red, we join millions across the country in sparking conversations about prevention, early detection and the unique symptoms women may experience.
Today we stand together supporting survivors, honoring those weโve lost and empowering women everywhere to know their numbers, understand their risks and take charge of their heart health.

How did Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital come to be? The way many great things do โ through inspiration, determination and dedication!
In 1963, a small group of residents with a vision for medical care in our community studied the feasibility of building a hospital. It would serve residents and visitors in the area that would later become known as Lincoln City.
By a vote of the people in 1965, that committee became a formal group, the North Lincoln Health District Board of Directors. Their first task was to oversee the construction and operations of a hospital. Inspired by the boardโs vision, citizens approved a tax levy which, along with a federal grant and the sale of general obligation bonds, provided funding to build a hospital. Six patients were admitted to the new hospital on the very first day it openedโ Oct. 28, 1968.
With the rapid growth of the hospital and advances in health care, the North Lincoln Health District voted to sign a 30-year management agreement with Samaritan Health Services in 2000. Samaritanโs mission, โBuilding Healthier Communities Together,โ acknowledges that Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital belongs to all residents of north Lincoln County.
Further contributing to our communityโs wellbeing, the health district partnered with the City of Lincoln City, North Lincoln Hospital Foundation and Samaritan Health Services in 2011 to build a permanent home for the Samaritan Early Learning Center, a five-star rated childcare center for infants, toddlers and children.
In the fall of 2015, Samaritan Health Services and the health district announced plans to construct a new hospital and medical campus on the current site, replacing the nearly 50-year old building. The replacement hospital will be completed in the autumn of 2019 and the campus renovations finished by spring 2020. Visit samhealth.org/NewHospitalLincolnCity for details.
