Dr. Ali Khaki thought big hospitals had all the funding they needed... until he saw the gaps up close.
He saw how donations helped cover what the budget couldn’t:
✅ Essential medical equipment.
✅ Scholarships so coworkers could afford childcare.
✅ Support for patients in their most challenging moments.
“The Foundation fills the gaps to make sure no one falls through the cracks. That’s why I give.”
Our hospital's employee activity committee hosted a Flower Power event, giving away beautiful Oregon-grown flowers and plant starters to employees and volunteers throughout the hospital and nearby clinics earlier this week. Thanks to Bullfrog Blooms Farm in Toledo for their green thumb!

Pacific Communities Health District Foundation and Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital patients recently benefited from three incredible third-party fundraisers. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to these generous supporters and everyone who participated in their events.
💛 Tina Fritz and her employer, Pacific West Ambulance, donated $1,540 to our Women's Cancer Fund. With cancer being prevalent in her family, Tina is motivated to lead the company's annual t-shirt sale to support this cause.
💛 Advanced Oncology Nurse Karen Dubois, who has a nurturing spirit for both people and plants, hosted a successful plant sale. She met her first-year goal of raising $1,000 for our CAN Cancer Fund.
💛 The Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital Auxiliary leveraged an exquisite quilt donated anonymously. By displaying it in the gift shop, they raised an impressive $2,160 for our Patient Support Fund.
We are immensely grateful for these contributions, which significantly enhance our ability to support our most financially vulnerable patients with needs like home medical equipment, nutrition, transportation and so much more.

Congrats to Adriana Sanchez, Medical Assistant in Orthopedics, for being named GSRMC Clinics’ July Rising Star Employee of the Month! 🎉
Adriana was nominated three times for her compassion, teamwork, and dedication — from personally transporting a trauma patient to stepping up for the X-ray team when they were short-staffed.
Since joining Samaritan in 2022, she’s grown from front office staff to a certified medical assistant through our apprenticeship program. Patients and coworkers alike appreciate her warm, family-like care.
Outside of work, Adriana enjoys the outdoors with her dog Hennessy and spending time with loved ones. 🐾🏕️
👏 Thank you, Adriana, for going above and beyond!

Our hospital's Employee Activities Committee does a superb job of coming up with fun teambuilding activities - and they often include food! 🍰 Last week, the committee hosted a Fruit Bowl (like the Super Bowl but involving fruit-based recipes). Much yum was enjoyed by staff during their lunch break, who tasted and voted for their favorites. 🍓 Along with the Fruit Bowl competition, the committee served up traditional strawberry shortcake for a refreshing treat.

How did Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital come to be? The way many great things do – through inspiration, determination and dedication!
In 1963, a small group of residents with a vision for medical care in our community studied the feasibility of building a hospital. It would serve residents and visitors in the area that would later become known as Lincoln City.
By a vote of the people in 1965, that committee became a formal group, the North Lincoln Health District Board of Directors. Their first task was to oversee the construction and operations of a hospital. Inspired by the board’s vision, citizens approved a tax levy which, along with a federal grant and the sale of general obligation bonds, provided funding to build a hospital. Six patients were admitted to the new hospital on the very first day it opened– Oct. 28, 1968.
With the rapid growth of the hospital and advances in health care, the North Lincoln Health District voted to sign a 30-year management agreement with Samaritan Health Services in 2000. Samaritan’s mission, “Building Healthier Communities Together,” acknowledges that Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital belongs to all residents of north Lincoln County.
Further contributing to our community’s wellbeing, the health district partnered with the City of Lincoln City, North Lincoln Hospital Foundation and Samaritan Health Services in 2011 to build a permanent home for the Samaritan Early Learning Center, a five-star rated childcare center for infants, toddlers and children.
In the fall of 2015, Samaritan Health Services and the health district announced plans to construct a new hospital and medical campus on the current site, replacing the nearly 50-year old building. The replacement hospital will be completed in the autumn of 2019 and the campus renovations finished by spring 2020. Visit samhealth.org/NewHospitalLincolnCity for details.
