With the Fall sports season starting up again, we are seeing early injuries come into the office. While collegiate and professional programs invest millions of dollars into sports recovery, it is commonly overlooked for high school athletes.

Sports recovery is important for increasing circulation to remove waste products created by the soft tissues during intense exercise. It is also crucial for decreasing the probability of a non-contact-injury occurring.

Our office provides Sports Recovery appointments for local athletes to deal with their every day aches and pains. Sports recovery sessions start at $35 and include cupping, soft tissue mobilization, Normatec compression therapy, and GameReady Cold compression.

Technique Highlight #4: Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology taping otherwise known as Rock tape, Kinesiotape, or KT-Tape is a method we use in our office to supplement our manual treatments and rehab. You’ve probably seen KT-Tape at track meets, volleyball matches, and marathons.

The goal of kinesiology tape is to improve movement patterns, increase circulation, decrease swelling, and decrease pain. The sensory feedback created by the tape sticking to your skin will decrease sensitivity in the area of injury, and when applied with tension the tape can decrease tightness in an injured muscle.

We believe that you shouldn’t have to stop chasing your performance goals due to pain. KT tape is an amazing tool that will continue to decrease pain and improve function even after you leave our office. At Nebraska Motion Chiropractic we don’t believe in high-frequency, cookie-cutter treatment plans that cost thousands of dollars up front. Our goal is to assess and diagnose each patient’s complaint, then develop an appropriate treatment plan specifically modeled for their condition(s). As your health improves, your treatment plan will be modified. This means we will reevaluate at each visit to constantly keep your treatment plan up to date to ensure you are not being over treated.
