I used to grab anything that said “natural” on the label. From lotions, cleaning sprays, candles...I thought I was making a healthier choice.
I mean, if it says natural, it’s got to be good… right?
But I learned that “natural” doesn’t always mean what we think it does...
The word isn’t regulated, so companies can use it even when products still contain synthetic ingredients, artificial fragrances, and chemical preservatives.
"Natural" became more of a marketing word than a meaningful one.
The problem?
Many of those hidden ingredients act as endocrine disruptors. This means they could potentially cause havoc to your hormones, impact fertility, mood, and even your metabolism. Some even mimic estrogen in the body, while others interfere with thyroid function or stress your liver’s detox pathways.
This isn't said to scare you into switching eeeeverything to clean brands. Personally, I was more mad that I spent money on the more expensive item thinking it was truly natural and clean to find out it really wasn't. The "essential oil" glade plug ins -- still synthetic fragrance. Frustrating. 🙄
That’s why I started switching to products that are actually clean and without the hidden "fragrance" ingredient. Shameless plug for Rowe Casa products! Their ingredients are truly plant-based, their scents come from real essential oils, and every formulation supports wellness rather than adds to the toxic load.
My goal isn't to "sell" the products I have in stock (but I do love when you support my small business!)...it's to educate so you can go into the store and have the knowledge to read the labels and make the best choice for you and your family.
It’s wild how many labels we have to read these days, but once you know better you really can do better. 🌿💛
