How you feel when you look in the mirror matters.

Confidence is not about looking a certain way. It is about how you see yourself.

Focusing on your strengths and what your body can do can help you build confidence over time. Even small shifts like positive self-talk or focusing on your health can help you feel more at ease in your own skin.

Here are a few ways to build a healthier, more positive body image:

For more than a decade, one of our former patients turned her own heartbreak into healing for others by handcrafting weighted bears for families experiencing infant loss. 💛🐻

As she moves out of state, our Bryan volunteers have embraced the opportunity to continue her meaningful work.

These weighted bears will keep providing comfort, connection and a reminder that no family walks this journey alone.

Diabetes and prediabetes often develop with few noticeable symptoms. Knowing your A1C can help you understand your average blood sugar levels. This is important to monitor if you have diabetes. It can also alert you if you are at risk for diabetes or prediabetes.

A1C tests are available through the Bryan On-Demand Lab for $8, no appointment or doctor’s order required.

Congratulations to Alyssa Rutan, MD for receiving the Care Like Crazy Award!

A patient shared these kind words about Alyssa.
"I would like to nominate Dr. Rutan for the Care Like Crazy Award. From the very first visit, she has been nothing short of extraordinary. Dr. Rutan doesn’t just care for her patients — she truly cares. She has stood by me through some of the highest moments of my life and through some of the lowest, most difficult ones, always showing compassion, patience and unwavering support. She has made me feel seen, heard and genuinely cared for in ways that go far beyond medicine. As I am preparing to move out of state, knowing I won’t have her as my physician is one of the hardest parts of leaving. I truly cannot imagine anyone more deserving of this award. Dr. Rutan embodies what it means to care like crazy, and I will be forever grateful for the care she has given me."

Alyssa, thank you for the care you provide daily to your patients. You make a difference in the lives of others. We are honored that you are part of the Bryan Medical Staff.

Lower limb amputation can be a life-altering outcome, but a new procedure at Bryan Medical Center is offering a promising alternative for patients.

Dr. Jeffrey Wienke performed a transverse tibial bone transport (TBT) using the TrueLok Elevate System for a patient whose wounds were not responding to traditional treatment.

The patient is now showing strong progress and is on a path toward recovery. This advanced approach is helping more people preserve mobility and maintain their independence.

✨Meet our newest Milestone Achiever: Messiah ✨

When Messiah came to Bryan Pediatric Rehab at 10 months old, he could not sit on his own, crawl or pull himself up to stand.

Now at 18 months, he can sit by himself, get onto his hands and knees, pull himself up to stand and walk with help. Recently, he stood for a few seconds all on his own!

He enjoys bubbles, balls, singing songs with hand motions and playing with his mom. His joyful personality shines during every visit.

Way to go, Messiah!
