Summer is a great time for parties, barbecues, and catching up with friends. With the hot weather, staying hydrated is a key part of staying healthy. It’s important to remember that alcohol is a diuretic and if you do not drink enough water with alcohol, you can become dehydrated very quickly. If at all possible pass on drinking but, if you do, remember the safe rule of 1 to 1. For every alcoholic drink, replenish your body with a glass of water.

If you missed open enrollment, don’t panic—you might still be able to get coverage through a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). SEPs are triggered by certain life events, like:
➡️ Getting married
➡️ Having a baby or adopting a child
➡️ Losing other health coverage (e.g., from a job)
➡️ Moving to a new area
➡️ Gaining citizenship

The SIU Center for Family Medicine in Lincoln, Illinois, was established in 2017 through the collaborative efforts of Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, the Logan County Department of Public Health and SIU School of Medicine. The health center serves residents of Logan and the surrounding counties and offers comprehensive primary care services and dental services all in one location. It is an integrated family medicine and dentistry practice designed to serve infants, children, adults and the elderly. In addition it is housed in the Logan County Department of Public Health facility so patients can also take advantage of the health department’s services such as their Immunization and Women, Infants and Children Programs. The health center accepts patients with or without insurance and we welcome our veterans.
