We continued our celebration of Skilled Nursing Care Week earlier this month with our Red, White and Bloom BBQ, gathering our guests and residents for a festive dinner featuring barbecue and all the classic fixings. Good food and great company made for a memorable evening.

Earlier this month we celebrated National Skilled Nursing Care Week with a hat decorating activity, giving our guests and residents the chance to choose patches and accessories that reflected their own personal style. Every hat turned out as unique as the person wearing it.

The Culinary Passport group brought the flavors of Mexico to Firethorn earlier this month, celebrating Cinco de Mayo with barbacoa beef tacos, elote corn, guacamole, tres leches cake and margaritas.

Every spin is a surprise. Our residents tried their luck with Beanboozled jelly bean duos, one good flavor and one not so good. The laughs were worth every surprisingly unpleasant pairing.

Our Culinary Passport group is designed to bring flavors from all over the world straight to our residents. In April, we explored the history of food from Japan. Our menu included sushi, chicken teriyaki and Yakisoba noodles. For dessert, we enjoyed Japanese fluffy “Jiggle” cake, also known as Japanese cotton cheesecake.
