Update: we will only be able to offer full time school to 5 years and older, children under 5 will be able to join us with a parent, and we will offer full time and part time schedules. There will also be a few opportunities for discounts for full time tuition if a parent is able to offer help with before or after school care, or dedicated teaching assistant days for field trips and activities.

We are looking into liability insurance for purchasing a passenger van to travel to farms and forests, while keeping a homebase in town. I'm hoping this does not mean tuition costs have to be unreasonably high, we are trying to price this lower than the other private alternative schooling options available in Lincoln right now.

Mindful Minis Microschool is focused on learning through nature, garden, and practical life such as cooking and cleaning for ourselves. We will be doing morning meditation, simple yoga, dance. We will learn about herbs and energies for holistic self care and wellness. We will be volunteering to help our neighbors with food security, welcoming refugees, cleaning up public spaces. We believe our children are kind, empathetic, activist minded people, and we want to foster those gifts to help them innovate and make connections in the community. We believe sustainability in lifestyle and agriculture are important values, as well as being inclusive of all cultures, family dynamics, and faiths.

Please email us at mindful.mini.community@gmail.com if you want to be updated as we figure out official tuition costs and more final details!

Around the beginning of the year, we were at the library and they had a display on the wall of stars, which you could write your wish on for the new year. Seeing this absolutely broke my mama heart. Food security is near and dear to my heart, and we talk as a family about how some people do not have as much as others. My soon to be 5 year old asked if we could help feed people, and we do regularly donate items to our neighborhood free pantry. We have also talked about how people litter and should clean up the planet and not leave trash on the ground. Kids notice, and they do want better for the community as a whole.

Recently I've been thinking about how we should shift from the old "what do you want to be when you grow up?" question, to "what problem do you want to solve in the world?" And this gives children an opportunity to engage more in the world around them, feel important and meaningful, and innovate instead of fit into an old system that is rapidly shifting anyway. And when we're talking specifically with very smart, empathic, sensitive children, we want to foster their fierce kindness in a cruel world. To keep them kind and sensitive, and also give them the strength and tools to be bold and courageous and to go out and speak out against injustice.

So when I ask myself, what problem do I want to solve in the world, it is that I do not want mine or any other sensitive, magical, fiercely just and kind children to be beaten down by schooling that intends to carve them to fit the mold. I want to participate in guiding them to be continue being little lighthouses in the dark. I want to make sure children are fed well, and their minds are fed well too. This year is going to be the beginning of the most amazing journey, and I'm so glad you're on it with us! 🥰🙏✨️

We are looking for 10 kids between PreK and 5th grade, and up to an additional 10 homeschooling families looking for a group to join, starting this August! We will use a nature based schooling curriculum, gardening, food preparation, arts and crafts. We will learn about many world cultures, and foster the intuitive and empathic gifts of our children through meditation, mindfulness practice, play and reading.

We will be finding a homebase spot and secure our garden options soon. Please share this page or tag a family who is seeking a different education experience for their children, focused on community, sustainability, and personal growth. Depending on our gardening abilities and group, we would love to become a year round school pod, and have a farmers market booth next spring, and many more beautiful goals! Let's plant seeds together this year, and invest in the future trees, flowers, bees, and people.

If this sounds good to you, please email me at mindful.mini.community@gmail.com so we can talk more are we grow. Official tuition costs will be figured once we have a better idea of overhead costs. Very soon!

Hey friends! We're still here, and dreaming big dreams! I am looking into launching a microschool with more serious focus, as we will have a kindergartener this year (time flies!) And it feels like now more than ever, we all need to lean into our own little weird and wonderful communities. I am very excited to talk to you about this as I learn more and get prepared over the spring and summer. If you've got a child who would love to participate in a nature based, practical life, philanthropy, art and mindfulness centered small group setting, please reach out! You can message the page or email me at:
mindful.mini.community@gmail.com

We are so excited to share this journey with our friends! Stay tuned for some social meet up events this spring and summer!

I won't allow my subconscious to create a defeat before it exists. Instead, I will create the outcome I desire.

We still want to chat about making a childcare co-op that could grow into a microschool/homeschool pod. Right now with costs as they are, and normal daycares using treats and plastic trinkets as bribes... we would really love to find a way to share the cost and labor of childcare with other families, and get back to nature and play!

If you want to discuss building this co-op, please comment! And come out to our Feral Family Forest Fun! On Sept 7th to play and chat! Let's build our community!

Learning about bugs! Our isopods are taking off like crazy... if you want your own rolly pollies for a starter tank or tote, let us know! We also found a spider egg sac hatching, and put the ball of fluff and baby spiders near the compost pile, hopefully they get all the flies!
