Lincoln -- Verna Mason, 107, of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at St. Clara’s Rehab and Senior Care Center in Lincoln.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Mason will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Pulaski Cemetery with Rev. Mark Thompson officiating.

Verna Stoll was born on August 3,1918, the daughter of Vincent E. and Lelia K. Pfau Stoll. She was united in marriage to William H. “Barney” Mason on February 22, 1946. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2012.

She is survived by her granddaughters: Dawn Mason and Tanya (Frank) Spinner; great-grandchildren: Dustin Meacham, Caleb Meacham Alexis Johnson, Damian Johnson, and Bradley Spinner; daughter-in-Law: Lisa Mason and her daughters: Lindsey (DJ) Maxheimer and Lacy (Justin) Hott; and great-great- grandchildren: Stella Hott and Kayson Tuttle.

She was preceded by her parents, husband, son: Joe Mason, one sister: Lois Stoll, and granddaughter: April Breedwell.

Verna was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, working crossword puzzles and cooking for her farming family.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Logan County.

Lincoln -- Donna Sue Creager, 90, of Lincoln, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the St. Clara Rehab and Senoir Care Center in Lincoln.

No Services are scheduled at this time. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

Donna Sue Wasson was born on October 10, 1935 in Harrisburg, Illinois the daughter of Roby Homer and Lillie Pearl Parks Wasson.
She is survived by her daughter, Donetta Baker; daughter-in-law, Mary (John) Strader; four grandchildren: Brian (Katie) Baker, Megan (Tom) Leahy, Mallory (Jordan Graves) C***s and Mason C***s; and six great-grandchildren: Ronyn, Finnegan, Elizabeth, Sophie, Veda and Imogene.

She was preceded in death by her two sons: Robert Mark C***s and Robbie C***s.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lincoln. She was employed at the Lincoln Kroger Store for many years working in the Floral Department.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Wayne S. Hanner, Sr.

Elkhart -- Wayne S. Hanner, Sr. was born January 23, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois. Wayne was a lifelong member of Elkhart Methodist Church, where he met his beloved “Kay-ball.” They wed on January 27, 1951, and enjoyed 71 years of marriage before her passing.

Although Wayne is reunited with his beloved wife, he leaves behind a large family that will miss him. Wayne was proud of his large family and would often look around in wonder at what he and Kay created. He leaves behind his daughters: Dianne (Lyle) Fout, Boo Hanner, Cheri (Nubs) Gieseke, and Terri (Brian Hutchison) Jean.
He also appreciated the fun antics of his 11 grandchildren: Traci (Eric) Graue, Justin (Lora) Brown, Ashley (Dirk) Aper, Nibs Gieseke, Duane (Heather) Gieseke, Brent Gieseke, Jessica (Kevin) Foran, Nicole (Craig) Erlenbush, Andy (Danielle) Meister, Amy (Tim) Davis, Alexa (Josiah) Klokkenga, nephew Robb (Laura) Hanner and their son Nick.

Wayne’s family continued to grow as 28 great-grandchildren have been added over the years. He leaves them behind: Lauren, Andrew, Parker, Carson, Avery, Nora, Devin, Rylan, Hensley, Willow, Dawson, Grayson, Palmer, Ava, Emerson, Saylor, Graham, Alma, Eliza, Theo, Jack, Livi, Ella, Millie, Nellie, Harrison, Sadie Lou, Luke, and 2 more on the way.

Wayne is preceded in death by his wife, Kay Hanner, a son, Wayne (Nick) Hanner Jr., granddaughter Michelle Conrady-Brown, and brother Larry Hanner. He was reunited with those loved ones, as he took his last breath on February 22, 2026.

Throughout his life, Wayne made sure to take care of his family and loved ones while speaking his mind. He had a lovingly stubborn way about him that left others shaking their heads and smiling. He will be remembered for his distinguished "whistle" and “Whoop, Whoop, Whoop,” not to mention his famous "Super Pickles" and crackers with butter (his favorite snack).

When Wayne wasn’t with family or friends, he could be found driving around in his red truck, spending time on the farm where he raised cattle and crops up until his passing (79 years).

A private family service will be arranged at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Wayne to Elkhart Fire and Rescue.

Lincoln -- Lloyd P. Gleason, 81, of Lincoln passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2026, at the Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lincoln with Rev. Joseph Dondanville officiating.

Military Rites will be accorded by the Lincoln American Legion Post #263.

A celebration of Lloyd's life will be held at the Knights of Columbus Council #1250 from 1:00 p.m. Until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday following the graveside service.

Lloyd Paul Gleason was born on March 29,1944 in Lincoln, the son of Lawrence P. and Leona C. Martin Gleason. He was united in marriage to Linda Edwards on September 17, 1966. She survives.
Also surviving are his children: Troy Gleason, Tracey Gleason, and Dana (Marcus) Korssell; and three grandchildren: Amber Oliver, Abbie Oliver and Peyton Gleason.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother: Larry Gleason.

Lloyd graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1962. He then served in the Illinois National Guard. He worked as a carpenter for many years and also farmed in rural Lincoln.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, American Legion Post #263, Hopedale Riding Club, Carpenters Local Union #273, and was a former member of the Lincoln Masonic Lodge #201.

Lloyd's hobbies included gardening, antique tractors, and riding his horses. He was an avid Cardinals and Dolphins fan.

Memorials may be made to the Charitable Trust of Lincoln Elks 914, American Legion Post #263, or Central Illinois Veterans Commission.

Lincoln -- Perry C. Kohl, 83, of Lincoln passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in New Holland with Rev. Noah Kerstein officiating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Peasley Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Richmond Grove Cemetery in rural New Holland.

Perry Cross Kohl was born on September 24, 1942, in Lincoln, the son of Hubert Lloyd and Eileen Cross Kohl. He was united in marriage to Emily H. Holzer on June 2, 1972. She survives.

Also surviving is one son: Eric J. (Danielle) Kohl, one daughter: Stacey (Kevin) Howard, four grandchildren: Christopher (Danielle) Howard, Courtney Howard, Annie Kohl and Willilam Kohl, seven great grandchildren, one brother: Barry Kohl and one sister: Sally (Ron) Correll. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter: Kayla Howard.

Perry graduated from the New Holland High School in 1960. He then attended the University of Illinois. He was employed as a Rural Postal Carrier for many years. He also farmed and raised livestock in Sheridan Township for many years. Perry also was a member and salesman for Farm Mutual Insurance Company for many years.

He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln. He was a former member of the Logan County Mounted Patrol with the Logan County Sheriff's office. Perry was a member of the New Holland Alumni Association and served as President in 1975. He was co-chair of the 1975 Centennial Celebration and a member of the committee for the Sesquicentennial in 2025.

His hobbies included playing pinocle at the Oasis in Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church in New Holland.

Cremation Rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held at East Lawn Cemetery, Bloomington, IL, on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Her brother, Mr. Randy Adams will officiate.

Wilma Jean Adams was born November 4, 1941, in Pontiac, IL, the daughter of William and Dorothy Harris Adams. She was united in marriage to Gilbert LeRoy Landrus on May 1, 1960. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2022.

Wilma is survived by her children: Lori (Gary) Klink and Larry Landrus; siblings: Wayne (Louise) Adams, Bill (Eric) Adams, Ron (Reeta) Adams, Betty (Bill) Brockett, Margie (Don) Ferguson, Randy (Judy) Adams and Tina (Leland) Soule; grandchildren: Jeff Crews, Brittany Rodriguez, Brian (Destany) Crews, Kellie Landrus, and Kaity (Alex) Horn; and great-grandchildren: Lana Crews, Kaleb Crews, Grayson Crews, Isabelle Rodriguez, and Meena Raychaudhuri.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Nancy Brennan, Shirley Elmore, Sharon Bull, and Chuck Adams.

Wilma was a 1959 graduate of Pontiac Township High School and had run a home daycare for many years. She enjoyed traveling, visiting with family, and spending time with her grandkids.

Wilma’s family is especially thankful for the heartfelt care she received at Accolade Healthcare.

Lincoln -- Norma Jean Chere, 85, of Lincoln, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at HSHS Saint John's Hospital in Springfield.

Norma Jean Chere was born on December 17, 1940, in Middletown, the daughter of Norman Russell Chere and Margaret Louise Scholties Chere.

She is survived by two nieces: Kimberly (William) Frizzell and Kelly (Chris) Jones. and great nieces and nephews: Kaitlyn (Scott) Flora, Kendall Frizzell, Kinsey Frizzell, Blake Jones and Luke Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother: Dan Chere, and two sisters: Kaye Chere and Myra Chere.

Norma graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1958 and St. John's School of Nursing in 1961. She was employed at the Lincoln Development Center and Logan Correctional Center for many years.

Her hobbies included anything in nature: dogs, cats, birds, flowers and gardening; reading; and putting puzzles together.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Peasley Funeral Home.

Angela Lynn Bates was born on June 8, 1980, in Springfield, the daughter of Thomas John Bates and Linda Kay Musick Bates. She was united in marriage to Michael J. Gallagher on November 9, 2013.

She is survived by her mother: Linda K. Bates, one son: Cole W. (Lily Fuhrer) Kindred. Two granddaughters: Ava Mae Estelle Kindred and Dakota Symphony Lynette Kindred. One brother: Seth Adam Bates. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, and cousins: Susan (Edward) Reese, Jake Pinney, Rose Van Fossan Musick, Ima Jean (Grandfield) Stoots, Carla (Jim) (Stoots) Woodring, Rochelle Stewart, Brianna Stewart, Terry Grandfield, Karen Bates, Kathi Bates Hammerle, Jo Bates Cook, Ashley Isbell, Bobbie Jo Coultas, Raymie Hart, Jenna Riley and Kris Bates. Her beloved animals: Fritz, her cat as a child and Shiloh, her dog as an adult.

She was preceded in death by her father: Thomas John Bates, Grandparents John Nelson Bates, Estella Mae (Grandfield) Bates, Howard Gilbert Musick and Henrietta (Schaupp) Musick and first cousin: Wesley Musick.

Angie graduated from the Lincoln Community High School in June 1999, Lincoln College, June 2001, and University of Illinois Springfield, June 2003. Her major in college was Communications and Minor in Criminal Justice. She was employed at Arch Coal in Elkhart as Mine Monitor Technician.

Angela had many interests in life. Her family and friends were very important to her and very precious. She was very fierce and protective of them. She loved to spend time with her son and her granddaughters.

She always helped a friend in need and had a giving heart when it came to her family and friends. She was very “rich” in friends and had many friends. She was still very close with her high school friends.

Angie was active in Brownies and Girl Scouts. She was a very smart student, usually an “A” average in school. She was on the speech team, and she also played volleyball and basketball at LJHS.
She loved writing and wrote articles for the school newspaper at LJHS and as an adult wrote articles for the Carpenter’s Union in Springfield for their magazine.

She was an avid pool player at the Glass House Pool Team and went to Las Vegas to compete.

She attended her son’s saxophone concerts at Olympia and encouraged him to get a music scholarship.

Angie enjoyed camping, swimming cookouts, birthday parties with slip n slides when young, riding her bicycle with friends and was always outside enjoying summer with her friends.

She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and was confirmed when she was young and a firm believer in God.

Angie also liked reading books and playing board games with her friends. One of her favorites was “Password.”

She loved life and was a free spirit. She was passionate about her family and friends and very protective with a giving heart. Although, very, very outspoken and direct she was known to tell you what you needed to hear, not always what you wanted to hear advice wise.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or for Educational Fund for her granddaughters Ava Kindred and Dakota Kindred at CEFCU.

Mackinaw -- Randy E. Presswood, 66, of Mackinaw, passed away on December 27, 2025, at his home.

*** Services for Randy are scheduled for Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Armington Christian Church in Armington, IL. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Mr. Tyler Escoubas.

In honor of Randy’s love of baseball, the family asks that all who attend please feel free to wear your St. Louis Cardinals gear.

Randy E. Presswood was born on July 22, 1959, in Lincoln, the son of Floyd Presswood and Dorlis Edwards and Robert Brandt.

He is survived by his daughters: Natasha (David) Kraushaar and Tara (Colin) Heinz; one sister: Reta (Buddy) Wilson; and four grandchildren: Chuck "Charlie" Hathaway, Phoebe Kraushaar, Grace Heinz and Joseph Kraushaar.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Rose Marie Talbot.

Randy graduated from Heyworth Community High School in 1977. Randy was employed with R. A. Cullinan for many years.

He attended the Armington Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time, when he wasn't watching his grandchildren's sporting events. His grandkids were the light of his life. He always had a smile on his face when he was with them and his daughters. He was proud of every one of them and made sure to tell anyone he talked to how special they were. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys fan.

Memorials may be made to the Armington Christian Church.

Leo Edward Evans, Jr. was born June 23, 1960, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Leo Edward Evans, Sr. and Marilyn Jane Tansky Evans.

He is survived by his children: Amber R. (KK) Fikri and Elijah (Lesley) Evans; two sisters: Melissa Ann (Grant) Lutrell and Kelly (Bobby) Jackson; and four grandchildren: Jessica, Rebecca, Haq, and Kizzy Fikri.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was employed by the City of Decatur for many years. He was a member of the Life Foursquare Church in Decatur.

His hobbies included playing the bass guitar in Midnight Valentine and Bethlehem Jones Bands, and riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycles.

He is survived by his daughter: Elizabeth "Punkey" (Jerry) Daniels, his mother: Carolyn Sue Thornton, one sister: Rhonda Thornton, one brother: Rick (Tunisia) Thornton, and seven grandchildren: Michael Thornton, Sabrina Koeppen, Chance Koeppen, Brodey Koeppen, Bella Koeppen, Jacob Daniels and Joshua Daniels.

He was preceded in death by his father Gerald R. Thornton, one son: Christopher Thornton, one granddaughter: Emery Daniels, and one brother: Ronald Thornton.

He had been employed doing Tank Maintenance.

His hobbies included spending time with family, watching cartoons, and being outdoors, especially next to a pond or on a creek bank.
