“Dr. Kate Gogela made everyone feel important. Her kindness, humility and compassion left a lasting mark on her patients, colleagues and community. We will always remember her smile, her dedication and the warmth she brought to every room. If you knew Kate, you loved her. She sprinkled her love and kindness on everyone around her.”

Friends and colleagues are remembering Katherine “Kate” E. Gogela, M.D., FAAP, who died Nov. 7 at age 42 after being hit by a car. She was a breastfeeding specialist who served families at Lincoln Pediatric Group in Nebraska.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of our friend and colleague, Dr. Kate Gogela.

Kate was an integral part of this clinic long before most of us arrived. As Dr. Mike Germer’s daughter, she started here supporting the chart room and front desk, and following her dedication through college, medical school, and residency, she fulfilled the hope we all shared: her return to this practice. She was a spectacular part of our group—a skilled, caring clinician, a loyal partner, a trusted friend, and a truly wonderful wife, mother, daughter and sister. Her example of dedication and care set a high standard for us all and we miss her greatly.

We ask that you keep Kate’s many loved ones—family, friends, and patients—in your thoughts. Hopefully we can all take time this weekend to appreciate how much better our lives have been because Kate was in them.

Please take care of yourselves and each other. ❤️💙💚
