We see so many people cutting out gluten, dairy, FODMAPs, or entire food groups and yet they're still bloated, gassy, or running to the bathroom.

Here's why:

- Low stomach acid or enzyme output means you can't fully break down food, no matter how "clean" your diet is.
- Poor bile flow from the liver and gallbladder can make fats hard to digest, leading to bloating and greasy stools.
- Stress slows motility, literally tightening your gut and changing how food moves through.

That's why we look at your digestion top to bottom from stomach acid and bile, to enzymes, motility, and your gut lining. If you've tried all the elimination diets but still feel stuck, it might be time to dig deeper. Reach out or book a consult, we'd love to help you get your gut truly working again.

Most modern diets are loaded with omega-6 fatty acids from seed oils (like soybean, corn, sunflower) and processed snacks. Meanwhile, we're often falling short on omega-3s from wild fish, flax, chia, and walnuts.

When omega-6s dramatically outweigh omega-3s, your body ends up in a more pro-inflammatory state. Over time, that can fuel everything from joint pain and skin flares to cardiovascular issues. The goal isn't to cut out omega-6s entirely (your body needs them too!), but to restore balance.

- Add more omega-3-rich foods like salmon, sardines, walnuts, flax, and chia.
- Reduce excess seed oils + processed foods that skew the ratio.

Small shifts = big long-term impact on how your body manages inflammation!

We hear so much about lowering cholesterol that most people don't realize... your body needs it.

Cholesterol is the raw material for making hormones like estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and cortisol. It also stabilizes your brain cells, supports memory, and plays a critical role in your immune system.

When cholesterol gets too low, it can actually lead to:

- Hormonal imbalances (irregular cycles, low libido, fatigue)
- Mood changes or memory issues
- Weakened stress response + slower healing

We look at cholesterol as more than just a heart number. It's a clue to your overall metabolic and hormonal health.

Want to see if your cholesterol is truly optimal for your body? Book a consult and let's take a deeper look together.

We tend to chase sweet, salty, or creamy, but your digestion loves bitter.

Foods like arugula, dandelion greens, radicchio, and even a squeeze of lemon before meals stimulate bile flow, which helps your body break down fats and es**rt toxins out through the liver.

More benefits of adding bitters to your plate:

- Eases bloating by supporting stomach acid + enzyme production
- Helps balance blood sugar by slowing gastric emptying
- Gently supports daily detox (no fancy juice cleanse needed)

Try tossing a handful of bitter greens into your salad or sipping on warm water with lemon before meals. Your liver (and your belly) will thank you.

Most people hear "growth hormone" and think of athletes or bodybuilders. But your body naturally makes this hormone every day and it's absolutely essential for healthy aging. Here's how:

- Collagen + skin: Growth hormone stimulates collagen production, helping keep skin firm and reducing the breakdown that leads to wrinkles and sagging.
- Tissue repair: It supports healing everywhere, from tiny microtears in muscles to keeping joints strong and resilient.
- Fat metabolism: Helps your body use fat for energy, protecting lean muscle and supporting a healthy metabolism.
- Brain + mood: Growth hormone even plays a role in cognitive function and helps protect against mood swings tied to blood sugar or inflammatory changes.

Growth hormone is your behind-the-scenes repair crew, working on everything from skin to metabolism to mental clarity. Support it with stable blood sugar, quality sleep, and stress reduction.

Even mild dehydration can make your blood thicker, forcing your heart to work harder to pump oxygen and nutrients where they're needed. In fact, just a 1-2% drop in hydration is enough to slow detoxification, zap your energy, and reduce how efficiently your body clears out waste.

It's a small shift with big ripple effects: less cellular hydration means slower metabolism, more sluggish lymph flow, and even brain fog.

So if you're feeling drained, puffy, or struggling to recover from workouts, don't underestimate the power of proper hydration. Sometimes the simplest fixes are the most overlooked.

Bloating after meals, waking up with a puffy belly, or feeling like your stomach changes size throughout the day isn't just annoying... it's a sign something deeper is off.

It could be low stomach acid, meaning you aren't breaking down food well. Or sluggish bile flow, so fats aren't digested properly. Or even bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) where bacteria ferment your food before you can.

If you're constantly trying new diets or cutting foods without real relief, it's time for a smarter approach.

Want to finally figure out what's driving your bloating? Book a consultation and let's get to the bottom of it, so you can enjoy meals again without the bloat.

Your cravings aren't random, they're often your body sending signals about deeper needs.

Here are 5 common cravings and what they might be trying to tell you:

- Sugar: Blood sugar on a rollercoaster, chronic stress raising cortisol (which makes you reach for quick fuel), or even poor sleep driving extra carb cravings.
- Salt: Could point to taxed adrenals. Your body may crave sodium to help keep blood pressure and electrolytes balanced when under stress.
- Chocolate: Often linked to low magnesium, a mineral that calms the nervous system and supports muscle + hormone function.
- Carbs or bread: Sometimes it's comfort and serotonin (especially if mood is low), or your body needing quick energy after unstable blood sugar.
- Fatty or creamy foods: Could be tied to needing more fat-soluble nutrients or simply not getting enough healthy fats, which help with hormone balance and satiety.

Antibiotics don't just wipe out the bacteria causing infections, they also disrupt your good gut bacteria, often dramatically lowering microbial diversity.
And for many people, that diversity doesn't bounce back on its own.

Years later, this can look like:

- Persistent bloating or IBS-like symptoms
- New food sensitivities you never had before
- Skin flares or immune issues because of a less resilient gut lining
- Even mood changes, since your gut microbiome plays a huge role in making neurotransmitters like serotonin

That's why we sometimes trace chronic gut symptoms all the way back to a round (or several rounds) of antibiotics.

A healthy, balanced microbiome does more than keep digestion smooth. It protects your gut lining, trains your immune system, and even helps regulate inflammation throughout your body.

If your gut's been off ever since that "bad stomach bug" or "round of antibiotics years ago," you're not imagining it. It might be time to help restore balance, rebuild diversity, and get your gut truly thriving again. We can help!

Low iron (or low ferritin) is one of the most common things we see linked to fatigue, hair loss, brain fog, and even restless legs. But popping more iron doesn't always fix the problem, and can sometimes make things worse.

Here's why:

- Stomach acid matters. You need enough acid to convert iron into a form your body can actually absorb. If you have reflux, bloating, or take acid blockers, your iron absorption may be tanked.
- Gut infections block absorption. H. pylori, parasites, or even bacterial overgrowth can steal nutrients or inflame the gut lining so you don't absorb iron properly.
- Chronic inflammation changes iron metabolism. Your body "hides" iron away during inflammation, making less available for normal energy + oxygen delivery.

So more iron isn't always the answer. The real solution is figuring out why your iron is low in the first place. That's why we dig deeper with functional testing to look at your gut, your stomach acid, and markers of inflammation to truly restore iron levels from the ground up.

Did you know that frequent blood sugar spikes can contribute to acne? It's true! Refined carbs like white bread, sweetened coffee, or even "healthy" cereals can increase hormones that trigger excess oil and clogged pores.

It's true! Your skin is deeply connected to your metabolism. High blood sugar doesn't just affect your energy or waistline; it can actually drive acne by setting off a hormonal domino effect.

So if you've been struggling with stubborn breakouts despite a solid skincare routine, it might be time to look inside i.e. at your plate and your blood sugar!

Ever wonder why so many people today struggle with allergies, eczema, gut issues, or just keep getting sick?

One big reason: we're too clean. Over-sanitizing strips away the healthy microbes your immune system needs to stay balanced and strong.

Here's how to support your microbiome without skipping good hygiene:

- Use gentle soaps and ditch harsh antibacterial chemicals
- Save hand sanitizer for when soap + water aren't an option
- Feed your gut bugs with fiber-rich veggies & fermented foods
- Get outside and connect with nature (your immune system loves it!)
- Consider targeted probiotics to help rebuild diversity
