August is National Immunization Awareness Month!

The CDC recognizes National Immunization Awareness Month in August to highlight the importance of routine vaccinations for all people 💉 We know that busy schedules can sometimes impact your ability to attend appointments and receive routine vaccinations. During NIAM, we encourage you to talk to your healthcare provider to ensure you and your family are protected against serious diseases 🦠 by getting caught up on your routine vaccinations.

Parents: As your children head back to school, 🏫 it’s particularly important for you to work with your child’s healthcare provider to make sure they get caught up on missed Well-Child visits and recommended vaccines. 💉 You can find more information on the American Academy of Pediatrics website.

☀️ July is UV Safety Awareness Month! Key tips include:
Seek shade and minimize sun exposure, especially during peak hours (10am-4pm)
Be aware that UV rays can reflect off surfaces like water🌊 sand, and/or pavement
Wear protective clothing such as a wide-brimmed hat 👒 or choose clothing with tightly woven fabrics or with a high Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF)
Use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher on all exposed skin and reapply frequently. At least every 2 hours ⏰
🕶 Protect your eyes and surrounding skin with sunglasses that block 100% of UVA and UVB rays
Check the UV Index before heading outdoors 📈 The higher the index, the greater risk of UV damage, and the more precautions you should take
Stay hydrated Heat and sun exposure can lead to dehydration

All of our providers want their schedules to run on time⌚ However, there are various reasons that a healthcare provider may be running behind schedule. Sometimes, the patient or patients before you took longer than expected because of procedures, an emergency happened and we had to call emergency services, or the patient had an unexpected, complex issue arise during their time with the provider. 🚑 We are not intentionally trying to make you wait, and delays are often factors beyond our control. If your provider is running late and you can't wait any longer, please let our front desk staff know, and they can help you reschedule your appointment. 📆
