This April Jason Masek will be presenting at the Institute's annual Interdisciplinary Studies Summit on a case he was involved in titled: "The Silent Storm: An Interdisciplinary, Case-Led Approach to Dysautonomia Management"
According to Jason you will get to "Learn how conjugate hemi-rib function provides the mechanical foundation for air flow and how this influenced the treatment of dysautonomia. Conjugate hemi-rib function refers to how the ribs on one side move together as a unit with the opposite hemi-rib cage, the diaphragm, the spine, and the sternum. Loss of conjugate hemi-rib function doesn’t just limit chest movement-it distorts air flow patterns, pulling unevenly on the diaphragm giving rise to a RIB FLARE on one or both sides. When conjugate hemi-rib function is lost, the ribs on one side of the chest stop moving in sync with the other side (or with the diaphragm or spine) resulting in inefficient breathing and air flow mechanics."
