Hruska Clinic Inc., Restorative Physical Therapy Services Hruska Clinic ; Lincoln, NE
https://linktr.ee/hruska_clinic

The Hruska Clinic offers physical therapy services that are based on the philosophic and integrative concepts of the Postural Restoration Institute (PRI). The staff is committed to addressing functional limitations through the assessment of neuromuscular patterns and treatment using PRI application, and interdisciplinary integration when necessary. Postural Restoration is the utilization of manual

and non-manual techniques to restore position of a common pattern present in all humans. Consultation with a Hruska Clinic therapist will address the coordinated association between the body’s relative postural position and the potential muscular imbalances that have lead to the postural position. When properly positioned, aligned and balanced, the joints and muscles of your body can work in a more effective and efficient manner.

3 (4) PRI-informed Mistakes We See in the Gym

❌ Mistake #1: Overextension in Lifts or Under Load

When the Ribs Flare and the Spine Arches, you are trading real strength for compensatory tension

✅ Stack the Ribs over the Pelvis
✅ Exhale to set position (feel stretch in lower back)

This alone may change “back pain with pressing” into “stable and strong”

❌Mistake #2: Symmetry Obsession

Just because both sides are the same doesn’t mean they work the same. Asymmetries are normal and training should reflect that

✅ Consider Single extremity or alternating training to allow each extremity to train independently

❌Mistake #3: Training in one plane only

If all you do is more forward and backward you’re missing 2/3 of the game! Most traditional lifting patterns and machines live in the sagittal plane but real movement requires frontal (side to side) and transverse (rotational) plane movements and control as well

✅ Consider single leg activities with rotational demands as part of your training

❌BONUS Mistake #4: Don’t Forget the reset!

Put your body back in its place after a tough workout for better recovery!

Which one are you guilty of??? Let us know

Stay tuned for more information with our upcoming conversation with Chad Beckman on Training with PRI in mind and go back and watch our Cocktails and Conversations episode (link in bio) if you want more information! #

“From Patient to Powerhouse: 4 PRI Principles That Belong in the Weightroom”
What happens after you finish rehab? Let’s make sure you don’t boomerang back.
www.hruska-clinic.com
1. Your body isn’t built for symmetry—so stop training like it is.
PRI reminds us that the left and right sides aren’t identical—and that’s not a flaw, it’s a feature.

✅ Try: split stance rows, offset carries, and noticing left/right differences.

2. Pressure is Power

Forget “core tight.” Think: diaphragm down, ribs back, exhale to own your position.
True strength starts with internal pressure management—without living in extension.

✅ Cue exhale. Teach stacked posture. Build pressure without compromise.

Train in 3D

3. Sagittal is safe. But life isn’t linear.
Lateral, rotational, and diagonal movement patterns build real-world strength and resilience.

✅ Add frontal + transverse plane work: lateral lunges, chops, and loaded rotations.

4. Respect the Nervous System

Train hard. But warm up and cool down smarter.
PRI-informed warmups and cooldowns shift athletes into the right state for output… and recovery.

✅ Use breathing, grounding, and sensory-rich drills to guide nervous system balance.
