Since its passage in 2000, the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Act has helped the country dramatically improve newborn hearing screening rates—from around 20% of infants being screened before its passage to nearly 98% screened today. It gives families answers when they matter most, opening the door to early intervention that can mean the difference between a lifetime of barriers and a lifetime of possibilities.
