A rural family physician who has cared for generations of Nebraskans, Dr. Wergin brings a wealth of experience and a passion for advocacy to his role. His leadership will guide the NMA as we continue to protect patients, support physicians, and shape the future of medicine in our state.

Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte made history as the first Native American woman to earn a medical degree. The restoration of her hospital in Walthill is more than a renovation—it’s a celebration of her legacy and a commitment to the future of care in the community.
