NMA physician leaders meet with Nebraska congressional delegates to discuss the importance of supporting prior authorization reform, improving access to timely care for seniors, and addressing physician workforce shortages by increasing reimbursements to meet the growing costs to provide patient care.

NMA board leadership is attending the AMA National Advocacy Conference in Washington D.C. and had the opportunity to learn from Mark Cuban on how he is providing a drug program, Cost Plus Drugs, to ease the financial burden on patients.

Why does testifying on LB1212 matter?

LB1212 would create an alternate licensure pathway for internationally trained physicians.

Jodanne Hedrick, DO, shared why it's important that this bill reflect physician input:
“Safeguards must be in place to protect the public, ensuring national standards are met as designed by U.S. Specialty Boards. Uniform standards must be created.”

Wesley Zeger, DO, explained why it matters for patients:
“So patients know they are getting care that is similar to any U.S.-trained physician—they deserve the best. We feel U.S. health care is the best care patients can get in the world.”
