Meet Dr. Anna Dorhout, one of our first-year resident physicians.

Dr. Dorhout is a Family Medicine physician who values the unique relationships built through continuity of care. She considers it a privilege to care for individuals and entire families through every stage of life. Originally from Omaha, she earned her degree in Nutrition Science from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, followed by her Medical Degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Dr. Dorhout and her husband, Hunter, have long felt at home in Lincoln, where they enjoy being close to their families in Nebraska and Iowa. She knew she had found the right fit when she connected instantly with the residents and staff at Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Dorhout enjoys staying active through walking, running, and working out. She’s also a fan of concerts, puzzles, and curling up with a good fantasy or romance novel.

Dr. Dorhout is excited to get to work with her colleagues and care for patients at the Family Medicine Center.

Congratulations to Dr. Hunter Allen for being named Resident Advocate of the Year by the Nebraska Medical Association!

Dr. Allen's passion for advocacy blossomed when he joined the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians Board of Directors, representing Nebraska on Capitol Hill and shaping healthcare policy nationwide.

As a resident advocate, Dr. Allen played a crucial role in enhancing the NMA's public policy priorities. In addition, he was involved in ensuring successful outcomes with national and/or state-level advocacy initiatives. He encouraged and motivated his colleagues to participate in NMA advocacy work, while personally advocating for the well-being of physicians, patients, and the communities in which they serve.

Dr. Allen completed his residency training in June, and he is now practicing Family Medicine in North Platte, Nebraska.

We enjoy having a robust curriculum that offers many options to our residents––like our rural rotations that are from four to eight weeks. Coordinated through our partnership with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, rotation sites vary each year based on community needs and availability.

While on rotation, residents work closely with a local medical team—caring for hospitalized patients, assisting in the ER, and gaining meaningful experience in a rural healthcare setting. It’s real-world training that helps prepare you for a career that makes a lasting impact.

If a rural family medicine practice is in your future, our residency program should be too.

It was an evening of excitement as we celebrated the graduation of our third-year residents—a milestone that marks the end of residency and the beginning of a lifelong journey in medicine.

As these physicians practice across Nebraska and the Midwest, they carry with them a wealth of clinical knowledge, hands-on experience, and a heart for community-focused care.
