Congratulations to Nicole - our July 2025 DAISY award winner! Nicole's nominator stated: "Nicole is someone that you look up to and seek advice from. She is one of the biggest patient advocates that I know. She has always shared her love and knowledge of the nursing practice with those around her. I have seen countless patients under her care and although she is now a full time nurse educator, her passion for nursing is unwavering. Nicole makes sure we are educated in best practices. She seeks out and sets up educational opportunities to allow us to further develop our skills and knowledge of the nursing profession. Nicole is always available when you need advice on patient care, even if she is off the clock. She will help out on the floor if the unit is busy and she is always willing to help us with patient care if we need an extra set of hands. I'm extremely grateful for everything she has taught us over the past few years. Watching her take care of and interact with patients is always so inspiring!" Thank you, Nicole, for living our St. Elizabeth mission each and every day.

Congratulations to Bob - our Spirit of Service Award winner for July at St. Elizabeth! Bob's nominator stated this: "Bob should be recognized with this award as he exemplifies the values that sets St. Elizabeth apart from other facilities. Bob is a compassionate person who greets all with whom he comes into contact with a smile and conversation. He talks to everyone in the hospital, not caring where they work. Bob has integrity and completes his job to the best of his ability. The grounds at the hospital always look beautiful in the spring and summer (an example of our value of excellence!). In the winter, the walks are safe when it is snowy and icy. Bob cares that our staff can get into the building to do their work and he supports them by ensuring they get here safely. Bob has a genuine concern for the hospital and all team members. Thank you, Bob, for all that you do!

By now, you’ve probably heard about Postpartum Alert, the teal bracelet that helps healthcare providers recognize and prioritize care for patients who recently gave birth.

But did you know the idea started right here at CHI Health? Two nurses, Liz Siedhoff at CHI Health St. Elizabeth and Christina Phillips at CHI Health Lakeside, helped spark the concept that is now being expanded statewide by the Nebraska Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative (NPQIC).

Each postpartum patient at St. Elizabeth, along with patients at 44 other Nebraska hospitals that provide birth services, receives a bracelet before discharge. It’s a simple, powerful way to improve safety when moms are facing warning signs that can occur postpartum.

We’re proud to see an idea born at CHI making a difference for moms across Nebraska!

Congratulations to Courtney Thompson, RN, our June 2025 DAISY award winner! We're so proud of you, Courtney! 🎉 Courtney's nominator shared this: "Courtney was my preceptor during my summer nurse internship, as well as during my last semester of nursing school preceptorship. She is the most amazing nurse I've ever had the honor to follow. Courtney embodies all of CHI Health's core values of compassion, inclusion, integrity, excellence, and collaboration. Courtney takes her time with patients in order to get to know them and better understand them. She gives "spa days" to her patients, providing baths and hair care to patients who have had long days in the ICU. Courtney has helped shaped me into the nurse I will be and the person I am. She has taught me that patients are not seen as a diagnosis, but as people who deserve our full care and love. Join us in congratulating Courtney! 🎉
